I think the board should go and beg Strachan to come bk for the remaining 10 games, I think the way her feels about the club he would at least consider it. This would also give them a good amount of time to find a permenant replacement. In a perfect world maybe Strachan would get the bug again and want to stay longer term.

I wouldn't mind him back at some stage but I don't think he'd be interested. He's served his time here.

If you look back Strachan got the same stick as Deila, tactically clueless and all that, I personally loved WGS. There was a point in the first season he almost reminiscent of this season, we couldnt get a settle back four and were conceding all sorts, we even played one game at Motherwell with Adam Virgo and Bobo Balde i think at CB.

If he left after 2008 after 3IAR instead of the poor 08/09 season then he would be much higher thought of. No-one could predict it obviously. Didn't help that Big Jan just forgot how to score goals for 6 months.

If we were given that stonewall penalty for that Maldini handball against Milan we would have been the Quarter Final of the Champions League. Who knows what could have happened as that team were solid to beat, an average as * defence of Naylor-Caldwell-McManus-Wilson shutting out world-class players, that's down to excellent management.

If the board a spent the extra money for Steven fletcher in the 08/09 season that league would have been won.

True, he didn't leave though, half the 2007/08 season was garbage domestically, infact more than half most apart from the winning run at the end and the 2008/09 season the same but even worse.

Strachan's teams were actually like Ronny's domestic performances of this season, pure dull average stuff only Strachan had McGeady who carried the team for 2 year and Nakamura who done well usually we could rely on one of them playing well but even then our domestic results/performances were probably not even as good as Ronny this season.

Fans tend to forget and Strachan is always remembered well mostly due to Europe but domestic football it was poor, we got worse each season and we hardly ever pumped anyone, was always scraping 2-1s and 1-0s for years didnt even keep many clean sheets.

Look back at Strachan's results a lot are shockers. On this day in 2008 we started a run of 7 games where we only won 1 of them and it was against Gretna at home. We lost 4 and drew the other 2.

Mind we went a year or something without a clean sheet away from home too. Strachan was quite lucky that the huns were garbage in his first 2 seasons.

Look at the 2007 season too with Strachan, we only scored 65 goals in the League even though we won it, Hibs who finished 6th that season scored 56. We've already scored more than that this season with 10 games to go, we actually reached the 65 goal mark this season in our 24th League game.

Even though the Mowbray season stands out as the worst too, we only got 1 point less that season that we got with Strachan the season before. We actually WON MORE League games in the Mowbray season than we did in Strachan's last season.

With Strachan as manager we averaged 80 goals scored and 33 goals conceded per League season with Ronny 89 goals scored and 22 goals conceded per League season an improvement of +20 goal difference a season.

Do not forget how dull it was with Strachan. He shouldn't be near the job again, Strachan also favoured older more solid players compared to the ones we have now he wouldn't know what to do with a young team of mostly skilled talent who are not that solid or defensive.

I don't think the domestic football was anywhere as bad as you make out mate. Yeah, there were some laboured performances domestically but you could say the same about Lennon.

He was a bit cautious at times but we still scored often enough, we did thrash a fair few sides, 07/08 is probably my favourite season supporting Celtic. That comeback for 3IAR is by far the best title win I'v seen, doubt that'll ever be matched. Some bookies even paid out on Deadco so the turnaround was an incredible achievement which no-one expected. Probably the best sign of character I'v seen from a Celtic side to turn around the deficit with 6 weeks to go, and WGS has to be commended for that.

Regarding the lack of goals, I'd say the defences in the SPL were better then than they are now. Only the last 6 months of his tenure compares to the nonsense we're seeing under Ronny right now.

Games like ripping a top Benfica side 3-0 & famous wins over Man Utd & Milan. Ton of great victories against the club who are no longer with us. Even the headers from Jan & Robson were classic moments even though we lost. Nakamura freekick at Rugby Park. Those will go down in Celtic folklore. He was a resounding success here no matter what way anyone wants to dissect it.

Great manager but I'm happy with him at Scotland. Neil Lennon for me.

Thats mostly the good memories though.

What about Aalborg at home, any European away game except Spartak Moscow where we didn't look like we'd get near scoring a goal never mind winning a game.

He was a success but he could have done better as well as his first 2 titles were laid on a plate, the Huns didnt even manage to get 80 points in those seasons. His 2nd two seasons were poor for me, although to win it in 2008 after being far behind was great, it was * perfromances that led to us going that far behind to start with, scraping results wasn't the Celtic way.

Agree, i'd rather Lennon came back than Strachan.

Lennon is more proven working with younger players and more flexible tactically, where he played quite open and attacking domestically but set us up more solid in Europe, he played all kinds of formations too and different players in different positions.

    Thats what we need again.

You can selectively pick out Aalborg at home where the players blew it on the pitch by conceding a daft goal and missing a pen or you could look at the many triumphant European nights v AC Milan, Man Utc etc qualifying for the CL last 16 with a game to spare! How times have changed.

Lost one League out of 4 making him the best manager in my life-time while taking millions off the wage budget (a quote from the man himself).

Strachan was a great manager, no question about it.

We were unlucky to draw that Aalborg game 0-0, but it was hardly an embarrassing result as they also got a draw away to the European Champions, Man Utd. I agree we were poor away from home, but MON's team didn't fare any better in the Champions League with an obviously superior set of players. Had we dropped into the UEFA Cup we'd have got a few wins. At home we were outstanding, I expected us to get 9 points no matter who we were up against.

We've always scraped results against teams in general, that's what playing against 10 men behind the ball brings. It was different with MON as the gap in quality against the opposition was so big we could frequently pump sides with ease, akin to what Barca are doing right now. Larsson/Sutton v Gus McPherson/Andy Tod ffs.

Not much in it, but WGS was better than Lennon for me. Lenny being a Celtic man shouldn't give him any preference when it should be measured purely in success. You could argue Lenny had his 3 titles handed to him, with Deadco being deducted points then the next 2 being a gift.

Swap a manager who's team plays boring football for a manager who's Celtic teams played boring football. No thanks.
