FREE AGENTS

I heard the other day there was a few players who played in the premiership last season who have since been releases by there respective clubs.
One name that stuck out to me was matthew upson.Wasn't too long ago he was playing for england and i think he would a good job for us.Is there any other free agents that you know off who could do a job for us??

 

This season there will be a glut of free agents released from the EPL. John Carew and Matthew Upson are examples. Many will be on high wages. Im surprised we havent pursued a few of them. Here is the list from Junes Guardian Newspaper.

I think he would be a fantastic signing. However I doubt he will move to Celtic due to wages etc. But given that I believe majstorovic is a bomb waiting to go off and cost us points, upson would be a Alan stubbs type of signing

 

i remember we nearly signed him but he chose blackburn instead, thank *.

 

Just goes to show how far the money gap is when we couldn't even offer losers like that lot a decent enough contract if we tried.

What's better? Being unemployed for months until someone daft enough will panic and stump up some cash, or sign for a team with 56k at home games and medals for grabs?
I know what i'd choose.

 

A good bunch of those players are now attached.

Carew would have been ideal. Really surprised McFadden and Upson are still free.

I was gonna make a post on this too to see what folk thought...

The only reason that these bigger name players cant get a club is because of the money. They are too greedy and refuse to play unless its on their terms.

Thomas Hitzlesperger was supposedly offered a good contract with Sunderland at the start of the summer and his agent/lawyer told him to hold out for more money because he was sure a better offer would come along. Needless to say another offer has not come along and he'll struggle to get an offer anywhere near the terms offered by Sunderland.

The likes of John Carew are still on the list of unattached players too and it might be worth enquiring about but the problem is that they want Premier League wages and Celtic cant and wont pay that. They might get desperate towards the end of the window and accept an offer of significantly less than they are demanding just now but we'll have to wait and see...
