Just registered so, go easy on me!:icon_mrgreen:

Got a lot of time for Celtic and have always liked you as a club and as a set of supporters.

I remember my first visit to Parkhead in July 2006 for the pre-season game vs Everton. Such a great stadium and all the fans were very friendly towards me. I'd visited Ibrox for a Rangers vs Everton friendly in 2003, and remember being chased back to the railway station by Gers fans. So obviously Celtic holds fonder memories for me, even though we lost the game!

My main reason for posting was to ask you about a rumour I'd heard. Currently neither Everton nor Celtic have publicly announced a friendly game for the weekend of August 7/8, which would be the final game for both sides before the EPL/SPL begins the following week. The rumour I'd heard was that Everton vs Celtic at Goodison was tentatively arranged for that weekend. Have you guys heard this or know anything? Are you being rumoured to play anyone else on that weekend?

Thanks guys and good luck for next season.:50:

Really hope it does get arranged. As it stands Lincoln is the only friendly I'm going to.

Is it true that Everton have traditionally been the Celtic equivalent on Merseyside and that Liverpool are the Huns

I think both clubs are non denominational. Everton did gather a large Irish support as they signed a fair whack of irish players during the 60s and 70s, but there is no real religious divide.

It is deemed the friendly rivalry as there is no segregation in the stands, as often members of the same family can support both teams.

Welcome to TC, love Liverpool its a great city. Liverpool are my team down south, but I still have a soft spot for everton too ( though you need to get your strips sorted they are rotten lol)

Never heard that... All of my Liverpool fan friends were of Irish-Catholic descent. Also Liverpool has a huge support in the Republic itself....

L'pool did used to be the traditional Northern Ireland/Hun backed team from what I recall in the late 70's early 80's. This somewhat mellowed as our neighbouring hun friends moved their allegiance to Chelsea who have a hard core anti 'Ra' following.
The huns don't in my opinion like Everton as 1) They sing for its a Grand Old Team to play for! 2) They have a chapel in the ground.
Thoough there used to be a massive Orange Order paraded in the Merseyside are each year- not sure if this is still the case.
The huns don't seem to like Liverpool either due to the allegiance with us for supporting them through the Hillsborough events and they also Sing 'Walk On!

The above just tells me that we really should be supporting our team for the football!

    All the best!
