Haven't found thread like that. In last time many tims talk about dropin BBJ. It's sad because of sooo many great and important goals for Celtic but I understand fellow tims - he doesn't score. Beattie should get his chance, Sutty shurely hasn't showed his last but dropping Hartson?

I've noticed that he doesn't even got many chances to score with his ugly, bald head :) No high crosses, no high balls... IMO it's Nakamura's "fault", our midfield changed their style of play, the passing is shorter than I it was. At least as I remember, I couldn't watch many Celtic games before.

Can't imagine BBJ staying long on the bench... Do ya?

G.S was saying in the interview after the Caley Thistle game that Beattie isn't the finished artical yet as a striker,so 2 me m8 that means once Zurwaski fit(Livinston game)he will play the two off them together BBJ-Zurawski thats G.S front two m8 untill one's out for while so once again Beattie's got 2 go on the bench+wait i think a lot of teams are scared when Beattie on the bench coz he always does something durning the game as long as he comes on with 30 mins left thats his trade-mark-SUPER-SUB-Beattie:humpani: :76:

Celtic are in a fine prediciment when it comes to our forwards, 4 players all capable at scoring goals at the moment.

Beattie is the future for celtic if he keeps on developing the way he is.

What was our biggest compliant last season ??............. the age of our squad.

Maloney and beattie are on fire at the mo and they look like replacing some older legs in the next season or two.

BBJ and sutton have a big part to play in the next 2 seasons at celtic IMO.

Exactly, they will be able to help youngsters with the aid of their experience. Maloney and Beattie still need to get games though, to keep them progressing.

Just as long as Beattie keeps scoring i don't think even the manager G.S.could keep Beattie out+every-one always new that Shaun Maloney would become a great celtic player but i wonder what position does Shaun like himself i bet he probs.likes playing in a midfield role or even just of the front two, hope a bigger club or even a premership side doesn't what him coz i think he would be a star down there bhoys what with the foot-ball being slower than our game but he's a celtic man through and through:humpani:

Had enough of this BS about Beattie being the future. He is the PRESENT.
He scores goals and gets chances because he has pace, power and composure, his age is irrelevant. Even if he doesn't score he creates problems for opposition and is fully integretical part of the build up play. His talent allows him to continually save us when our seasoned pro's fail (quite often)

The problem is that he is discrimated against because he came through the system and doesn't have the ego of some of his counterparts.
BBJ played no part on Saturday, nor did he in Dunfermline or at Hibs. Despite his goal on Wednesday he contributed little overall. Put simply he isn't worth his place and is hindering CB's developement.
We are blinded by BBJ's "past" and Beattie's "future". The fact is Beattie is doing the business NOW and BBJ isn't.

Gladly said, lenny1. Think yo'r right m8. Maybe Hartson feels to confident of his first-team place? Beattie should be given a chance in nearest games and John dropped, sad but true...

Im not sure. Hartson made big impact on Wensday and changed the game. He has very good finishing too, I recon that in GS eyes Beattie is still good replacement in case of others strikers absence..... But on other hand if Beattie would get more chances to play he would cope with pressure better and his finishing could improve. GS has plenty options and he can rotate all strikers watching their form on trainings... but again there wont be created good partnership if strikers would be rotating all the time.... Thanks * Im not manager :). But its nice to have such a dilemma and competition can bring the best from players.

Strongly disagree, what changed the game on Wednesday was Petrov and Sutton rotating position (Sutton forward role/Petrov defensive). then we began to control central midfield.
Hartson's introduction was merely coincidental, he played no part in the equaliser and had little involvement until his headed goal (his only asset).
In one instant Magic and BBJ had a 2on2 with magic in possession, he had to hold the ball up for midfield assistance due to BBJ being the slowest player on the park, partnering Beattie would change these situations.

He scored goal - that was a change, he scored a winner and scared defenders. Beattie just didnt play well on Wednesday thats why he was taken off I think, there is some truth in your post but it was Hartson who scored a winner, I know he doesnt do almost anything but he scores - that is strange thing dare I say ;). But again it was Beattie who scored two in last game and who bringed pace and movement so as I wrote before I really dont know what would be the best choice.

Hartson will take a rocket from being dropped - he started this season on fire and has then gone off the boil, but Beattie's not the finished article. He'll be back in the team no bother.

Maloney, on the other hand, was sensational against Falkirk and deserves his place in the team. He can take on players for fun and has a mean delivery from both sides.

BBJ will never get dropped simply because of his reputation. Besides when celtic play * you can always rely on a moment of magic from the big man. I still believe he is the best striker we have. None of the other strikers play in other players like he does. He is sensational at holding the ball. However i've noticed that we are no longer playing the long ball like we used to so consequently he is less effective on the park. And we also never score from set pieces anymore...have we scored from 1 this season?

Beattie wasn't great on wednesday, but he wasn't bad. the midfield was miss firing with the final pass continually faultering so not alot of chances created.
You couldn't honestly compare Beatties performance on wednesday to that of BBJ's on Saturday/Hibs or Dunfermline. In fact if he had been that bad he would be sent packing back to the reserves.

I said I would ignore but....
Hartson has not a patch on Sutton for holding/linking up play. IMO he doesn't do it well at all as he has poor touch and control and is too static.
I would agree with you about the long ball. We don't use this tactic so there is no point playing him. He should be used as a last resort i.e if we are struggling then use him for the last 15mins, using long ball tactic. playing passing football should always be our primary tactic

maybe hartson is a celtic player of the o'neill era. But on the whole he's still a quality addition to the squad

looks like BBJ only scoring a hattrick every game would be fair enough for some lads here ..
