Is it possible to have supported another Scottish team in your youth and then 'see the light' and support Celtic and be a true Celtic fan? Or do you have to have supported Celtic and only Celtic to be regarded as a true Tim? Is it the length of time you've supported Celtic that counts most or is it the depth of passion in your heart for Celtic that counts more?

    Thoughts........

course it's possible my dad supported kilmarnock in his youth before he seen they were * and turned to celtic . :icon_mrgreen:

but i think it's the passion you have as long as you haven't supported rangers i think you can be a tim :50:

I've only known about Celtic 2 years (I'm in the US), but I feel like I've finally come home.

That's what Celtic is, that's what Celtic does, and it says a lot more about them than me :celt_2:

    So true wetghirl. :celt_2:

Since I started following Celtic I really do feel like I'm part of a 'family'. I truly believe that is what makes this club THE most special club in the world. It's an honour to put the hoops on my back.

The reason I ask is that (i'll be honest ) i haven't supported Celtic ALL my life and I've had several Celtic fans tell me I can't EVER be a true Celtic fan because of it. And it guts me cause I love Celtic so much.

i dont really think so ive been a tim since birth and every game i watch friendly or not there are butterflies in my stomach, whenever i see us scoring against rangers or milan etc. in videos i tingle, and having tried to follow another team in sporting lisbon it's just not quite the same, so i think definately that some celtic fans are missing out on some of the feelings we get.

I'll be honest when I first started following Celtic the first thing I did was read books and watch videos about the history of the club. I think if you're going to really take a team to your heart you need to know how it started and what it's all about. And I mad a big effort to learn about old players, trophies we won and how the club was born. It's funny how many fans don't know these things tbh.

i may try that with sporting lisbon, ive always sort of followed them but i think i should get alittle bit more involved, perhaps finding out more about them may help me feel the same way about the club as i do with celtic, but i doubt thats possible!!!

I've been a Celtic fan all my life and they are my favourite team. But I also support Manchester United and even though i'm a big fan of Man Utd I don't get that same feeling that I get when I watch Man United that i get when I watch Celtic. :celt_2:

There anything about their history that got your attention? Or you liked the name or the strip? Or you saw them and they were good? What got you into it?

Well read this ... I am a Born and Bread Celtic Supporter & Catholic.. My auld mans side of my family is 6th Generation Irish .. that my dad has only my uncle and auntie.... thats what my dads left with on his side of his family( * rest my Fathers Side )... in the other hand of my mothers side is a well diffrent story... My mothers side is Protestant but my Mother WAS a protestant supported the unwashed :54:and used to play in a orange flute band :52:... when my mother meet my father my mother changed her religion, support and my father and mother joined a Republician Flute Band. I always ask my Mother is being a part of the Celtic Family better than than the Scum... she replys Being a Celtic Supporter & Catholic is the most Welcomed thing shes ever experianced in her life.

So my answer is no u dont have to be a true tim since birth :50:
