Your family from Old Drumchapel i take it?

Both my parents came from Knightswood/Temple and we moved to Drumchapel in the early 60s.

Funnily enough i was just talking to my old man yesterday about him having pet rabbits during the war, and he said he kept them in a hutch which was atop of their air raid shelter! It was just when he mentioned the 'air raid shelter' it dawns on you they actually were bombed!!!

My Grandad worked in Singers for years after the war. Didn't know it was a munitions factory and was targeted by the Germans.

I remember when I was a kid (in the sixties) still being able to climb around the old bombed out tenements. There was an old cinema at the bottom of Whitecrook Street, on Glasgow Road that had been hit as well – it was a playground for us. The white houses being rebuilt up in Radnor and Parkhall.

A few years back I was in Budapest when some cheeky old c*nt started to give me a bit of grief for ‘us’ Brits bombing his neighbourhood during the war. He got a brief potted history of the Clydebank Blitz. He looked quite shell-shocked when I finished.

It would never have happened if it wasn't for those at Celtic Park leaving the floodlights on to guide the Germans.

What age are you? You don't come across as someone who remembers the blitz.

Take a bit of advice - hold off on pressing the send button and just let people think you're a * rather than spouting off and just confirming it.

Some of us did know innocent people who were affected by the blitz.
