Certainly looks like a good appointment and also it suggests that indeed Brendan Rodgers is being allowed to run things his way and not have people/players/coaches forced on him which is great news.

Happy with that. As long as Brendan was able pick his own man unlike the fiasco with John Collins.

Good, previous with Rodgers is a must, his own man. Happy with that.

  6. The job titles dont reall mean anything anyway.

Like Garry Parker was called a coach and Mjallby and assistant im sure at Celtic, yet Parker didnt do any coaching and Mjallby did and Parker was more the assistant, the one who went to games with Lennon, decided over signings with Lennon etc

There was never any doubt that Rodgers would be having the final say on everything as manager here, from backroom staff to players.

Quite frankly, he is too big a name to be 'bossed around' by the board in the sense that lesser managers such as Deila and Lennon would have been.

He will be in charge of everything and will be singling out the players that he wants, not being handpicked ones by Lawwell and told that he'll be signing them.

Would never be any chance of that, Lenny came into the job telling the board to shove a mentor up there arses and left a job when they weren't backing him up.

Rodgers might be able to strongarm them into doing what he wants but Lenny has never been the type to quietly go alomg and let himself get shafted by others.

Having read that article this guy sounds a really great signing for the club. No doubt he will be doing a great job in the background. This is becoming better and better by the day :celt_2:

    Cheap option.

At that time they had a year (turned out 2), to see if the cheap option would come good. Had Deila got us to the CL, had some of the players really stepped it up, then we would have gotten to progressive, young, exciting, modern football on the cheap.

That risk did not work out, so now they need to go back to paying the going price for quality and success.
