Todays Daily Ranger reports that Celtic are going in for Charlie Mulgrew who is free on a Bosman. They say that he knows of the intrest and is waiting to see if a deal can be struck.

I would be happy with this, he only left the club cos of a fall out with GS, we need a left back and he takes a great free kick. Hes also good going foreward and can score goals :50:. Thoughts.

Sorry no link as its not online yet,il put in link as soon as its up.

We can do better...although his set peices are so dangerous he would be a weak link at the back.

we need two left backs, and id happily have mulgrew as cover for our main left back.

agreed he is good going forward but defensively he isnt great, but we play in the spl after all.

I'd be happy, as he is a no bad player and also he is tall. We need to add height to the squad.

I would be happy with Charlie Mulgrew because he is a decent left back, is tall and strong in the tackle, and delivers a wicked free kick and set piece.
He would be better than Naylor or Wilson, and he would get stuck right in.
Remember his eyeball to eyeball confrontation with " diver " Laugherty ".

Agreed, but he would be good for us because he is good at going forward and can score from a dead ball.

I'd take him. He's decent, I would prefer him to be back-up to be honest but I wouldn't be too disappointed if he's our main target for left back. Still think we can aim a little higher.

I think he is rated too much on his free kicks tbh, and for a defender to be rated on what he does offensively is not for me.

I'd be very * off with this tbh.
He's nowhere near as good as Naylor was and that's * saying something

Aye thats wot wee Mick Paton told me , while he was handing out trophies at a local youth league awards do ,

Dont think he is good enough if we are taking him based on his free kicks and corners then we should just give the lad that was on loan at St Mirren a go Carey ,

Mulgrew is rank rotten at defending ,

the 3-2 game we had in WGS last season summed up Mulgrew as a player. Scored twice, one a cracking free-kick, and looked promising going forward but his lack of defensive capabilities also gifted the winner to Jvoh. I think we can do better but i trust Lenny's judgement
