    CELTIC'S FOREIGN LEGION

Georgios Samaras joins up with his top of the group team mates in Greece, hoping his rich vein of form for Celtic tempts Coach Otto Rehhagel to play him from the start.
Following up two good away wins with their first home game against bottom team Moldova on Saturday, the Greeks then host Switzerland on Wednesday.
The Greek squad will be aware of Switzerland's desire to prove their embarassing home defeat to part-timers Luxembourg was a one-off & will want to consolidate their two point lead with another six points from home wins.

Artur Boruc has been recalled by Poland Coach Leo Beenhakker, after the Dutch disciplinarian had suspended the Celtic goalkeeper for two games.
Artur faces a fight to reclaim his place from Arsenal's Lukas Fabianaski, following two decent performances from the Arsenal keeper, however Fabianaski is in no doubt that he may well be dropped following Boruc's heroics in Villarreal & his penalty double save against Hamilton.
Poland are top of their group and have an extremely important tie at home versus the Czech Republic on Saturday, followed by a trip away to Slovakia, Boruc's greater experience may well swing the balance in his fight for the gloves.

Andreas Hinkel has withdrawn from Germany's two home games versus Russia and Wales, due to injury.
Hinkel states it was just too risky to play and has been assured by Assistant Coach Hans Flick, that his place in the squad is not in jeopardy.

Aiden McGeady should line up for ROI's first two home games of the group against Cyprus and Georgia, he will want to improve upon his glaring miss in the draw against Montenegro.
It is expected that Trapattoni will keep his faith in the young Glaswegian and his recent good form for Celtic should hopefully continue for his Country, who sit in second place behind Italy.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has withdrawn from Holland's squad to face Iceland at home on Saturday and Norway away on Wednesday, following his first minute injury and consequent substitution against Hamilton on Saturday.
Holland's injury woes are furthered by the withdrawals of fellow forwards Robin Van Persie of Arsenal and Arjen Robben of Real Madrid, although they should be strong enough to retain ascendancy atop of Group 9.

Shunsuke Nakamura travels to Japan to play in a friendly against the United Arab Emmirates, followed by a World Cup qualifier against bottom team Uzbekistan.
Naka has stated his willingness to continue playing for both club and country, despite the lengthy travel arrangements, and has confirmed he will be back in time for Celtic's away game in Inverness on 18th October.

Scott McDonald returns to the Australian squad in Brisbane for a home game against group toppers Qatar, he may well be in line for a starting place if, as expected, Harry Kewell remains injured.
A home win will put the Aussies on top, equal with Japan if the Japanese also win their home game in the Asian Group 1.
