You’d imagine we’ll start seeing more news of players leaving in the coming days

Good start with 4 already in

  2. Hope we would. Big season coming up for him.

  3. I think we arguably paid over the score for Engels and Trusty, but I think Idah has already paid off a good chunk of his transfer fee, with the vital goals he has scored for us over the last eighteen months.
Trusty I think could be off, and this is a make or break season for Engels imo.

I still don't get the Engels hate by some. In more than a few games he was our best player on the park.

He cost 11mil and I'll say for the 100th time this is NOT big money in football anymore and people need to realise this.

If we sold him tomorrow we would make a profit so I don't see why he's getting hate.

Thought he was quality in the champions league and as far as I'm concerned his performances won as points and he's pretty much paid for himself.

Feel the same way about Idah.

The business we’ve done is sensational considering the money spent.

Considering two of them will be starters, assuming Nygren will be, it’s pretty unreal.

I think we will spend big on one or two signings.

  6. I feel the same about Engels. 11m for a 21 year old capped a few times for belgium is ok. Hes inconsistent but he clearly has a touch of class when he is on it. He hasnt shot the lights out by any means but hes not a flop either. One good season and his value could easily double.

Engels is the type of player we should be going after. Id much rather we spent 10m on a prospect at an Engels level and accept the risk that goes with it rather five 2m punts on guys who may never start

  7. This is the truth right here , no.point going overboard on him either way after that season. He was 20 and uncapped when we paid 11m for him. Hasn't been near the national squad since and ended the season on a right damp squib particularly the cup final. Needs a big season , he's young and has good technique , he really needs to take the bull by the horns and stamp his authority on games next year , far too passive for large parts of his first season. But as you say he showed what he's capable of a fair few times and there is a player to work with there. At his age hopefully he is settled and ready to crack on.

I agree it's the profile we should be targeting .

  8. You’re right bud, think so many people are gonna be shocked how good nygren will be for us. And hopefully all these cheaper signings contribute too.

keeper wise we’re already in a better position as doohan is better than Bain for that third spot who never play.

I’m sure there’ll still be some big outlays too but I’d assume the board are waiting til Hatate and Kuhn make way

  9. Nygrens the only decent signing so far. Seems to me it's just out with the old deadwood and in with the new!..hopefully I'm wrong with these fringe players coming in. Hopefully once in training we'll see some 1st team signings come in.

  11. Would love some absolute mad units in the team … Balde and Wanyama levels preferably.

  12. Any news on players that we need to move on?
For me those players are : lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Welsh, Kwon, Palma & Kenny.
I'd also like Tilio to go on a 6 month loan to an spfl team for a final assessment on him.

  13. Apparently that lad Kieran Tierney we’ve signed isn’t terrible. Fingers crossed he improves and manages to step up to fill Greg Taylor’s tiny little shoes.

  14. You get his point though? Tierney resigning was a formality; especially on a free. It was pretty evident he was returning months ago. Of course it’s great he’s coming back but still a pretty straightforward signing, we need other starting XI additions.

We've got another 2 months to get them, though.

I'd expect the 'bigger' buys to eek into July and early August to be honest.

Rumours of bids for Lagerbielke and interest from Germany in Nawrocki.

Kwon is away to Austria apparently. Bids for Kenny from England.

Welsh is in first team training, nothing yet. All of them will be gone next couple months.

  17. Thanks, all sounding positive. We really have the potential to create a strong squad this window.
Plus if youth players are to have any chance then we really need to free up spaces

  18. It’s literally the first day of July. This time last year we were still two weeks off making our first signing of the window. This year we’ve officially made four already, all of whom improve our squad which is significantly stronger than it was on the last day of last season.

Doohan may not be exciting, but he’s a necessity and an upgrade on Bain, plus ticks an additional box for European registrations. KT may not be as exciting as it should be because it’s been known for so long, but he’s a top class left back who is a huge upgrade at his position. Nygren looks like he can fill a massive hole as a 10, plus adds significant quality on the right side. Osmand is an exciting prospect, who will hopefully hit the ground running and contribute. They’re all more than “decent” signings in their own respect.

Of course, there’s still a lot of work to be done (especially in replacing one or two first team regulars who will leave), but again I stress that its the first of July. Our business is nowhere near complete.

  19. I’m quite happy with the window so far, and agree we’ll probably make some bigger additions later in the window. 10/10 window would be something like
    • Tierney
    • Osmand
    • Nygren
    • Inamura
    • Doohan
    • Winger x2
    • Midfielder
    • Left Back
And shipping off Kühn, Yang, Lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Palma, Murray, Welsh, Holm, Kwon, Kenny, and whoever else we have that won’t make it here.
