Celtic today announced the signing of Lukasz Zaluska on a pre-contract agreement from Dundee United. The deal will see the Polish stopper join the SPL champions next summer.

Zaluska: Sealed his dream move to Paradise

The highly-rated goalkeeper recently rejected the chance to extend his stay at Dundee United, citing the ambition to play at a higher level as his reason. Craig Levein was desperate to keep his no.1, but the lure of Celtic was to great in the end.

That decision now appears to have been vindicated, as he joins a club that competes for trophies and plays in Europe on a yearly basis..

Zaluska may also see the move as a chance to enhance his international prospects. He has had plenty to compete with, including Tomasz Kuszcak, Jerzy Dudek, Lukasz Fabianski and a very familiar figure.

The move casts doubt another Polish goalkeeper, Artur Boruc. The fan's favourite has come in for heavy criticism in the media, and this deal will prompt further speculation about his future at Parkhead. Very few Celtic fans will want to see the back of Boruc, who has endeared himself to the Parkhead faithful with some wonderful saves, and eccentric behaviour.

Boruc: Future at Celtic is in doubt

The move has been warmly welcomed by the fans, after a string of impressive performances in the SPL the free transfer is seen as a very shrewd move by the club.

At only 26, he is yet to reach his prime, and Strachan obviously feels there is the potential for improvement.
