What a shame that a song about about joining the IRA is classified as a Celtic song

Not really any different from Flower of Scotland, about a countries fight against oppression by foreign occupiers, nothing to be ashamed of

Well what have the IRA got to do with Celtic though?I have no problem with the tricolour or songs like the Fields but the IRA is not part of our History

The Fields is also based on the persecution from that same era , the only difference with The Boys of the Old Brigade is that it dipicts the rising against the same injustices.

people will always sing them. i think they have died down a bit but its the ones that sing about the ira that should go altogether from footie, keep them if u want them for irish history, just not in context with celtic

Аs i can see you are Scottish,so in that case the IRA it's not part of your history, but it's part of irish history and as Celtic has irish background it's logical that some irish national songs are accepted as Celtic's as well.
Gandolf i'd add to to your list:Go on home British soldiers. It is not a Celtic song but it is lovely rebelion song.

These songs should not be sung by so called Celtic fans and yes serbiancelt i am scottish(like most bhoys). Why ruin songs with pis*y add ons?We are constantly critical of the huns on issues of bigotry(and rightly so) and yet some still defend singing songs about terrorists in football stadiums

Many scottish Celtic fans, especially the older ones have lived through a life time of discrimination because of their Irish descent, Celtic games have been an arena to vent their anger and frustration through these songs. To brush over this as if it didn't or doesn't happen is an insult. Most of these songs are about a people being terrorised, whats worse?

Just because someone doesn't think as you,you can't call him "so called Celtic fan".
And about IRA-terrorism,well it depends from which point of view you look. For Irish ppl they are not terrorist, but the freedom fighters. Was Michael Collins terrorist just because he fought for his country and in that purpose found the IRA.

lennons lass and tartanbhoy have got a piont, but these arguments seem to be driven by the pc brigade as a tool to beat us all over the head with, lennon 1 has a view i sometimes sympathise with having lived and sampled a scottish life of being rc, leaving school and being asked which school i attanded and being denied jobs and access to naval ports, when i eventually got a job, when others in our company where allowed in despite convictions of terrorism, carrying out duties directly linked to loyalist bombings in glasgow.this had me believing i was blackballed for my religion rightly or wrongly. as i say at times when questioned on this i ask , are the jews wrong to despise hitler and germans for what happened to their race in the second world war,, or are the black people in america wrong to hate the white man for the slavery and exploitation they have endured by the likes of the KKK. i think not. so why shouldnt we feel wronged and a hatred for a system which has used a section of the uk population (i.e loyalists, orangeorder, torie party) to chastise and subjucate a particular race and religion like us as second class citizens although it does sadden me at the sight of violence and loss of life these attitudes transpire themselves into :31:
