Don't know if there's a thread already up about this so feel free to redirect me!

Anyone know what it's like getting to the airport from celtic park, would it be better to walk a few streets then ring a taxi or are there any direct buses or trains in the area? It's for the game this weekend (st Johnstone 16/2/14) so we're in a bit of a tight schedule (have to be there before half 4) after it was moved to the Sunday.

    Any help would be great!

You can get the subway from Duke Street (short walk from Paradise) to Central then get a train out to Paisley Gilmour Street. Shouldn't cost much. I'm not sure if PGS is near the airport though... I didn't even know Paisley had an airport. :smiley-laughing002:

Duke Street doesn't go to the Central does it? If there are 2 or 3 of you let the crowd clear a bit then phone a private hire (774 3000) and they'll take you for about £20. Straight there and less hassle. Even 2 trains to Paisley and a taxi from Paisley to the airport wont give you much change out of £15.

it's Glasgow airport mate. And it would be a tight schedule but getting into the town and a taxi would be your best bet imo.
You can walk to town in about 30-45min...who knows might be lucky enough to catch a bus, then can get a taxi from central or Buchannan (which also has a shuttle bus to Glasgow airport).

    Hope that helps

Aye a hackney will end up with a boundary charge. Might still only cost about £20 from Central as you're just next to the motorway.
But best bet is get into town and phone a private.

Hackneys are metered and private hire charge by the mile. Hackneys meters go up even when they're stuck in traffic. Privates have to be phoned, hackneys can be stopped on the street.

Maybe better off getting the Scottish Citylink bus from Glasgow Buchanan street bus station at 3pm which gets you to Airport for 3.20pm cant find later one. The coach number is 915

Just get a taxi to the coach station. It will be a lot cheaper than all the way to the airport. Not sure if you have to book coach ticket in advance.

Does it not? I'm sure I got the train from there into the lower levels of Central, up the escalator then on the train home. :smiley-laughing002:

There's definitely a subway station at the bottom of London Road where you can do that - might be mixing Duke Street up with somewhere else.

It may even have been a train that I got from near Celtic Park to the bit underground at Central, I've no idea. I know it's possible to get from near Celtic Park to Central via something on rails. :smiley-laughing002: Someone help me out.

You're thinking Bridgeton Low level train (not Subway) through to Central.
I'd say your best bet is to call a taxi to landmark/known spot just away from the stadium (stadium will be too busy, and the roads are * at the front of it). Call one to get you at the Forge retail park, will be quicker than walking to town. Will cost £20 straight to the airport and will be the quickest method.
That or walk it to town (you pass Bridgeton train station on the way, so can see if you are lucky to time a train) and then call a taxi to Central station. Stay clear of Black Hacks.
