Celtic Park pubs? Where to go?

Discussion in 'Celtic Supporters Info' started by Yorkshire Tim, Jan 11, 2015.

Discuss Celtic Park pubs? Where to go? in the Celtic Supporters Info area at TalkCeltic.net.

  1. Hi

I've not been a regular up at Celtic matches for a few years so I'm a bit out of the loop nowadays.

Me and 4 friends are coming up for the Inter match and they've never been to see Celtic before so I'd like to do the whole experience of a day out watching Celtic.

Where are good places to go for a drink before Celtic matches nowadays?

I remember Hagies used to have rebel bands on before matches but I did a search on Google and that's now closed. I might be wrong but have a lot of pubs around the ground now closed with the regeneration with the lead up to the Commonwealth Games?

I also used to quite like Turnstiles for a quiet, noise free drink too. Is that still there?

Is there anywhere that has rebel bands on before matches nowadays? Is there anywhere that does a cheap pint or whatever?

    What would everyone recommend?

Gallowgate for a cheap pint, The squirrel usually has a band on.

Turnstiles is still there, think it's been slightly modernised but don't quote me on that, as i dont go there.

The london rd tavern is now "The Real McCoy" been all done up, but they still put the Celtic songs on beforehand, so it's still alright.

The oak, turnstiles, the vaults all busy pubs beforehand.

I personally drink in the paradise bar, which is the old bowler's rest on Tollcross road....They put a live band on, and it's relatively easy to get served, you're no waiting for ages.

When you say they have modernised the Turnstiles, I think that means they have just painted it a rather unfetching battleship grey and put doors on all of the toilets!

I only ever go into the wonders of The Turnstile to take a glimpse of how life was in Glasgow before 1967 :celt_2:

Might see you on the A65-I am going up to. I will probably go to either London Rd Social club or the 'Real McCoy.

  11. We're getting the train up fairly early on.

I'll be taking my "Keighley Celtic Supporters" Banner up with me anyway so if you see that anywhere, that'll be us. :50:
