What part of his game would not be suitable for Celtic?

Really hope we get Biton, looks perfect for us.

  5. His two footedness and the way he skips by players is impressive from that short cameo..

We dont need that policy atm. What happened to Lenny saying recently that we are looking to only bring in better quality first teamers?

We need a creative midfielder more than we need a holding midfielder.

Well he probably is a better quality player who also fits the policy.

    Win-win.

What makes you think he wouldn't be a first teamer?

Can't see why anyone would not want Nir Biton.

He's exactly what we are lacking just now, he's almost 2 metres tall, the current Israel u21 captain with 19 caps, not 22 years old until the end of October.

Played a very good amount of club matches for his age, almost 150 games.

Man City were seemingly impressed with him last season, he played along side Yaya Toure in 3 separate pre season games. Most prominently in the Arsenal game, he was very impressive.

    Man City Trial's

"In January 2012 Biton joined Manchester City for a one-week trial period. In his last training match he managed to score twice and assist Mario Balotelli."

"In July 2012, Biton was again handed a trial with Manchester City, featuring in their pre season tour of Austria against Al Hilal and Dynamo Dresden, playing a defensive midfield role behind Yaya Toure. It was then reported he could not feature in the friendly against Malaysia because Malaysia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel."

Because it will more than likely mean we won't sign a creative midfielder which we have needed for 3 years.

Israeli starlet Biton on brink of £2m switch to Manchester City - January 2012.

Roberto Mancini is on the verge of bolstering his depleted midfield after holding talks with Israeli prospect Nir Biton’s agent in Manchester on Tuesday night.

Sportsmail revealed a fortnight ago how 20-year-old MS Ashdod midfielder Biton had impressed during a one-week trial at Manchester City’s Carrington training ground

Impressed: Mancini is keen to bolster his midfield options
City are on the verge of wrapping up an initial loan, with a view to a £2million transfer, after Biton’s agent Dudu Dahan predicted he could secure a work permit and get him out of national service with the Israeli army.

Biton still has nine months to serve with the Israel Defence Forces, but Dahan said: ‘I have spoken to the Army’s top personnel, and that is almost solved. City say they can get a work permit for Nir as well, as there is a special category for outstanding prospects like him. I have been speaking with Mancini every day, since the trial, so how can I not be optimistic the transfer will be completed?’

Being the operative. Lenny indicated that he is not looking at young hopefuls but higher quality starters. This guy is clearly a buy with selling in mind option.

He has not played at as high a level as I think we need. He may be a first teamer but is he better than we already have?

I ain't gonna knock a lad that I know little of, but this seems to be against what Lenny said last week.

Either way, if it happens, lets hope it turns out well.

£1.5m at the very most would probably get us this guy.

  18. Why do you class him as a "young hopeful" though?

He has played more Club games than Matthews and only has 4 caps less than Matthews. If we were signing someone like Matthews people would be wanking, for all we know he could be.

Mainly because he is young and we are hoping he will progress.:icon_mrgreen:

Lenny said last week that we are looking at different levels and so far 2 of our signings have been comparative kids in Virgil and Balde, another who has hardly played for 3 season due to injury and is a squad player. The other, who I think will be good if he can stay fit, is realistically the only one we have bought who doesn't fit the "policy" criteria. I would prefer us to be buying players who have a little more pedigree. Lets be fair, we are in a position to atm.

  20. Pedigree doesnt mean anything though. Lee Naylor had more pedigree than Matthews, Willo Flood more pedigree than Wanyama, Flo more than Larsson, Ricksen more than Petrov etc So sometimes its better to buy the lesser guy.
