    Alan Nixon in the sun

BRENDAN RODGERS has put Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher at the top of his Celtic wanted list.

Hoops boss Rodgers is looking for a long-term replacement for Joe Hart.

And his sights are set firmly on the big Anfield reserve, 24.

Republic of Ireland stopper Kelleherhoped to move this summer but missed out on a possible Premier League switch.

However, his exit down the line remains likely.

Celtic checked into Kelleher’s availability and were told he could not go just now, especially with fears of Arab interest in Kop keeper Alisson.

Liverpool would also need to find a homegrown replacement for Kelleher, so that makes it even harder to allow him to leave.

But the chance of being Celtic No 1 for the next few years appeals to the keeper after spending so long in the shadows at Anfield.

Is he good enough to be our no.1?

I swear he was suggested on a regular basis on the Suggestions thread, like once every week :67:

How much would Liverpool want for him? I swear they were wanting something daft like £15 million.

If it goes well he could be our GK for the next 5 years.

Also, Liverpool not allowing him to leave incase an Arab club comes in for their number 1. All well and good laughing at the English getting shafted but could affect us aswell. *.

    * *. :56:

Aye the best signings are the ones you don’t make but might make some time in the future.

    Great news, what a window.

He’s either made it up or it’s a plant so that those with less critical thinking skills will excuse the fact we’ve still got Hart in goal because we’re ‘planning’.

The club know who they want and are prepared to wait. No need to greet about it mate.

What a weirdly aggressive post, for no real reason.

He didn't even mention the window, all he said was we're clearly planning for the January window and not just accepting the first GK we get.

We'd have all loved to have got a GK in the Summer window, very few will say otherwise, forward planning for the January window doesn't suddenly forgive the failures of the Summer Window.

OK maybe we just don't give a * about signing players or forward planning. My bad.

But we don't do expensive signings. How much is this guy expected to cost?

I'm certain he was quoted as £15 million at one point, but I could be talking *.

He won't cost that in January, I suspect it'll be around £7-£8 million.

A bit pricey, but if it works out he could easily be our GK for the foreseeable.

Honestly someone willing to blindly believe the rags like that needs a wee bit of a slagging. Sorry if I offended you.

No worries mate. Hopefully nothing goes wrong and we get him.

It better be that lower number. The upper number is what Rodgers ruled out on any signing- it just isn't how we do things, sadly.

I feel like you're arguing a point that doesn't exist.

Maybe Nixon is talking pish, who knows? You started talking about the Summer Window for some reason, when that wasn't the point that was made. All Double Dutch said was it's good we're planning for the future.

Not once did he say this makes up for the Failure of a summer window, you're inventing things to suit your argument.

For the record, you think we're not looking to secure a good, young goalkeeper to take over from Hart? We just gonna see what the universe throws up or what?
