Well....finally booked my wedding so need to get myself a kilt. No point hiring as a kilt will last a lifetime with the amount of weddings I'll end up being at anyway.

Looking for a black and grey kilt as I personally think they look brilliant.

Anyone have any recommendations of stores in glaagow/paisley?

I think we all now know who'll be "wearing the trousers" in your marriage. ;)

Houston Kiltmakers just opposite Paisley Library.

Had mine done there and it's perfect.
Paid a lot for the outfit (Irish family tartan) so had to get done in special weave but it's worth it and looks the business.

If you are wanting an Irish tartan, they will do it but costs extra for the special weave.

Its a little bit out of your area but i bought a kilt, jacket and plaid for my wedding from this shop http://www.alloakilts.com/page21.htm

Very good prices, i was a little wary with the prices being so low but i was in the area one day and visited the shop to look at the quality of their kilts. Ordered what i wanted and was very impressed with the kilt and the jacket is well made also.

With regards to the rest of your outfit i suggest buying things like your sporran, belt, socks, shoes etc seperately as you can pick exactly what you like. With the likes of the bonnie prince charlie outfit offers that companies put together these items are not usually the best quality. I found ebay has a lot of good quality items on it from good reputable companies.

Good luck with the wedding! :50:

Edit... When looking through tartans be careful as some like the grey granite and grey highlander are a polyester/viscose composition and not wool.

I've got 2, always found Slaters to be a wee bit dearer although I did get my waistcoat from there for my wedding.

The sales people can be overbearing though, be warned!
