I don't think we could get Joe Allen tbh, would cost too much and wages too high.

Don't think Allen will want to leave Liverpool to be honest, Klopp still likes him somewhat and he still gets a lot of game time despite not being first choice.

    Allen is off apparently.

Swansea return. I'd prefer if we still stayed clear of England unless proper bargains appear, Rodgers coming does not change the fact there ain't alot of value for money down there.

It does however mean we could perhaps move up the ladder abroad slightly and go for higher rep 'projects'.

An ambitious target would be Hakim Ziyech for example at Twente. They are in serious debt and we were mentioned with him in January.

He'll be a better manager since his last clubs employed him. And it means we will have a bigger budget as before. Plus it shows the first time in a decade we mean business.

Let me add to the orcs reading this u did know this will get the baldy Orc manager the sack and send u back to where u came from.

Michu would be one to look out for , could be like Jelavic was up here and would be attainable. Kolo Toure aswell, Skrtel maybe too.

    Source?

Wish we'd finally sign him. Forever being linked with him. He'd be a cracking signing.

Somebody literally just suggested Snodgrass today. Has a year left on his Hull deal. Also, JP, isn't Michu operating at like the Spanish 4th division or something mental? I'm not sure if he has the heart anymore.

Superb for the hoops and Scottish football that appointment

That knuckle dragging neanderthal David Pleat saying that he must not think he is 'reinventing football like he did at Liverpool'.

Complete * - for a start, and as a Liverpool fan myself, he never ever had delusions of grandeur. It's a shame the media picked out little sound bites and massively spun his quotes - that only happened because he was Liverpool manager, and thus an easy target for the press. When he was Swansea, the press loved him to bits. Nothing changed - only the press's attitude towards him changed, and if you were smart enough to see through the media lens (unlike thickos and certified * coaches like David Pleat), then nothing really changed with Rodgers.

His last year and a bit at Liverpool was tough, but I can assure you that for two of his three seasons, the fans were behind him. Even in his first season, there was an evident and massive improvement in the way we played from the Hodgson and Kenny eras.

Wher Brendan differs from Deila most importantly is that his game is more possession based, whereas Deila was heavily influenced by Klopp's pressing game. While Rodgers is adept at this, he realises that if players are not up to the high intense pressing game, then he won't force it onto the team - his first season at Liverpool was characterised by possession game, not by pressing. It was only when he remoulded Jordan Henderson and unleashed Suarez that he reverted to a pressing game in the title chasing year.

I can see Celtic being more controlled and measured than in recent times as a result, and I don't see him forcing a pressing game that won't suit many of our players.

Perhaps it would be futile to look just at his Liverpool record. Swansea would probably be the best comparison as he will be operating on a similar budget and will look for the bargains hopefully without the interference from a transfer committee like he suffered with at Liverpool (the committee was made up of low league experienced Neanderthals from Rushden & Diamond for example). Just like at Swansea, I do believe there is a good foundation there for Brendan to work on - similar - but not identical - methods that Deila worked with them on, but like Rodgers did with Martinez's team, he will surely refine this his own way. Deila's done a decent effort with youth, and Rodgers excellent youth credentials will only see the likes of Tierney and co go from strength to strength. Not to mention, Brendan also reformed the Liverpool academy so it will be exciting to see how and if he implements wholesale changes to Celtic's academy in order to bring us up to the level of previous world class standards.

And anyone whose reputation of the man lies purely on * poor sheep mentality from social media and some horrifically unfunny Twitter account (Deluded Brendan which doesn't even evoke his mannerisms) can get tae *. Typical modern day armchair football fan that knows * all.

Allegedly, according to some other Liverpool fan who was 'in the know', him and his family celebrated when Thatcher died.

No wonder he feels an affinity with Celtic. :smiley-laughing002:

The more I think about this appointment, the happier I get and the less I can believe it's actually happened. Unreal.

Guy in my work told me he met a guy who told him Snodgrass would come here if Hull don't go up.

Don't believe it and don't want him either

    I'd definitely take him here.

He'd do damage domestically, would play for the shirt and is the kind of guy, similar to Commons who can score a goal from nothing. Can be useful in Europe.

Great hire for Celtic. His detractors mainly point to off-pitch stuff. His achievements at Swansea and Liverpool were good. Both played attractive, fast football.

    Congrats.
