    Its got to be a tie between Man Utd and Barcelona .... both had top quality players as usual.

    The voting seems to be going more modern. I couldnt decide out of Ajax or Juventus..

    Ajax went on to win 3 European Cups in a row and made up half the Holland team of the 1974 World Cup that reached the final and played the stylish football. Juventus went on to win the European Cup, half the team won the World Cup and they won 3 out of 4 Italian Leagues and it was probably the best defensive team of all time.

    Inter or Real, they were real European giants, though Inter were missing Suarez, I don't think they would have beat us anyway.

    I would probably say from that list either United or Milan, (should have been the eventual winners) but, that's because I'm too young too know about the likes of Real Madrid. When we beat Barca they did have quality players, but no where near the level they are at now.

    Out of interest why isn't the 4-3 against Juventus up? That was probably our best ever European performance

    I only picked 1 win against each team and the Juventus team we beat in 1981 was much better... Zoff, Scirea, Gentile, Cabrini, Tardelli, Bettega were world class players and World Cup and European Cup winners in under 2 years after we played them.

    Before my time, but it's surely got to be that early 70s Ajax team?

    That was a truly legendary side, and (unlike Inter and Barca) we played them at the height of their powers.

    The year we beat them they went on to win the European Cup - and they won it the next two seasons as well. Only three sides in history hae done that 3-in-a-row. And Cruyff was probably the best player on the planet at the time.

    You think that the Barca side we beat (as quoted in the OP) was the best team out of all the others?

    I genuinely think people have voted Barca because of how good they are now, that Barca 11 that we beat wasnt anywhere near the quality of some of the other teams on the list. Went with leeds myself.

    I don't really have much of a clue about the teams before Valencia in 2001 on that list

    Not being bias but I think Man United. VDS, Ferdinand, Vidic, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney - all top class players
