Celtic are considering a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Record Sport understands the Ukraine international is one of several shot stoppers that the Hoops’ scouting team are watching and doing on-going analysis on. Spanish sources claim that Celtic had an interest in the 24-year-old in the last window but Real were reluctant to do a business because he had been given the gloves for the first two games of the season.

Lunin, since then however, has been left frustrated on the Madrid bench. The Ukrainian thought he might get his top-team chance with Thibaut Courtois out injured but Real moved to bring in Kepa Arrizbalaga on-loan from Chelsea for the season. The Spanish international has been given the nod and Lunin is now considering his situation, which has put Celtic on alert. Lunin has been with Real since 2018 since moving from Zoyra Luhansk but most of his action has been on-loan at the likes of Leganes, Valladolid and Oviedo.

Celtic’s experienced No. 1 Joe Hart is out of contract at the end of the season. The Hoops currently have Scott Bain and Benjy Siegrist as his back-up but will be on the lookout for a new first choice in the summer, if not before.

The Premiership champions were also linked with Liverpool’s Irish keeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the last transfer window. However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to hold on to Alisson's understudy.

Looks like his contract is up in the summer.

I know nothing about him but you must be decent to be at Real Madrid and his fifa rating is good.

    That's all I need

Would be happy with this, only 24 so plenty of upturn.

No idea how much he'd cost mind you.

I had suggested him a few times. A backup keeper at a big club is realistically the best option we could aim for.

The big problem is back up keepers at big clubs can often be on huge amounts of money.

We have to hope Lunin wants to have regular game time, at least to be in contention for the NT first keeper spot.

Why would we be in for someone of this quality when the club apparently don't care about signing good players?

I take fifa 22 and 23 as gospel and he was a legend for me.

So for me, he'd be a fantastic signing :56:

But for real, he's about the type of signing I've been asking for, for a few years now.

Someone who is young, got something to prove, isn't likely to go anywhere with his parent club etc...

Would be a great signing, do wonder what the cost would be though, surely even if he isn't part of Real Madrid long term plans, he still come at a premium because of who his parent club os?

    Same

At that 22-25 age range, where they realise they maybe aren't good enough for the top level, but need to come to us for a few years at least.

    Ala Forster.

Been a few that fit the bill for absolute years and we let them swan by us.

This is the level we need to go out and get as the medium term replacement to Hart, if we are looking long term at anyone in the youth systems.

For a GK it is a fantastic age to be getting them in... give us a solid 3 maybe even 4 years and you can still easily go for a big money contract deal well into your 30s as a GK

Perfect age for a back up keeper to step up and start playing regularly as a number 1 aswell

Ambitious move, I'm sure there would be loads of teams waiting for him though. Would be some coup to get him in imo.

Would be very surprised. But he's the level should aim for. Right age too.

I'm happy that the 2 keepers mentioned are 2nd at elite clubs and not Scott bain
