think this appointment will show the fans how ambitious the board are go for someone like mcghee, mowbary coyle, aitken will show a lack of ambition dont think it will excite the fans and with season ticket sales not going to well they cant afford to take a risk in the fans not being happy.

to get a top class man in you are going to give him a decent transfer budget no top man is going to come to the spl with a budget of at best 10 mill to spend on ateam that needs 4 or5 right good signings, were as the men mentioned above will be happy with that sort of budget, buying the best the spl has to offer or up and coming players from across europe that is one of the reasons we are in this position.

so dermot the fans are waiting its time to get the wallet out

I am hoping dermot is looking for a big name, i hope he wants to get celtic back to what they once were and back up there, if he invests alot into the club, now hed get more supporters back, more money and get further in CL and get money back from there, doubt thatl happen though

I think they've forgotten that you have to speculate to accumulate :50:

Hypothetically speaking they push the boat out, what is there at Celtic that will tempt this big manager to come here? It isn't the level of opposition or the budget they'll receive.

A few European games and a superb support are about our only 2 aces up the sleeve.

Well that's true - but to speculate you have to have some money in the first place! :icon_mrgreen:

As long as we're stuck in the SPL we're going to be struggling. Not just to finance a decent manager's transfer ambitions, but to persuade him why he should come to a small, low-quality football league, in a wee northern country with * weather - to spend the next few years of his life trying to persuade half-decent players to come to a small, low-quality football league, in a wee northern country with * weather. :fear:

In a way I'd be surprised if the board went for someone who wouldn't at least get the fans a bit excited. The rumour is that the board were encouraging Strachan to move on because season ticket sales are going so badly. Now if there is any truth in that why would the board bring in another cheap option manager? If they want to get the season tickets sold they must realise that they will need to appoint a manager that will capture the fans interest. That thought alone makes me wonder if they are going to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Then again they might just sell us short again. :87:
