    I've heard a lot of times that messi and ronaldo on the same team wouldn't work out. Has their ever been a time when the 2 best ( arguably) players have been on the same team?

    Presumably back in the days of Real Madrid winning everything they must have had 5 or 6 of the best simultaneously.

    The lions in '67 with McGrain and Jinky surely?

    This hasn't happened in recent times. Maybe Ronaldinho and Messi at Barcelona ? Obviously Messi was a young kid at the time but he was still world class. That is the most recent example I can think of and they done well in the same side.

    Messi was a footballing bairn back when Ronaldhino was in his prime, both did not play supreme together.

    I still stick by Zidane and Ronaldo. Obviously both had different primes (one old; one young), however Ronaldo had a fantastic WC '02 and Zidane was the most expensive footballer in history around that period. Was there anyone better at that time?

    edit: Ronaldo '02 World Player of the Year; Zidane '03 World Player of the Year.

    I remember reading an interview with ronaldinho when he was voted best player in the world and he was joking and said that he wasn't even the best player at barca and that there was a kid coming up who was better
