CELTIC boss Gordon Strachan is keeping tabs on £4million-rated Greek star Vasilis Torosidis.

The versatile defender can play right-back but is also comfortable in the centre of defence and in midfield.
Torosidis is being chased by the Hoops, Newcastle, Blackburn, French side Lyon and Italian clubs Lazio and Udinese.
But the SPL champions will have to splash the cash to tempt Greek side Olympiakos to sell.
Torosidis, 23, was previously linked with a move to Old Firm rivals Rangers last year.
But sources in Greece claim the Parkhead club are ready to enter the bidding.

Olympiakos defender. i don't know where exactly he plays in the back four. i was given the impression by WGS that we aren't splashin the cash. £4m is alot!

Rangers have been credited with an interest in the past if i remember correctly.

Celtic are keeping tabs on £4m-rated Greek defender Vasilis Torosidis. (Scottish Sun)

Not a bad player but this will never happen. Its gonna take a bigger player to break mcmanus and caldwells partnership, strachan stated himself only a big money move would see the partnership split up.

I watch this player every week and also he is a starter for the national team.
Completely versatile, but really he is best as a full back or attacking midfielder. He is actually very good at scoring and scores often for Olympiakos also.I doubt he will leave Olympiakos this xmas. Hugely popular player in a very strong Olympiakos side this season and I think the fans would only accept a move to a continental giant in the summer if he leaves at all. He is very happy at Olympiakos.

As much as I would like to have this guy (he's been capped 20 times for Greece already at the age of 23), don't we need a LB instead?

Hey guys, greetings from a Olympiakos-fan.

Vasilis Torosidis is a very talented player, but he has in fact not been so good this season as he was at the end of 06-07 and the first half of 07-08. I don't know what has happened to him, but his marvellous runs forward at the wing is not often to be seen anymore. Hopefully he wil hit back later in the season.

At youtube by searching "best of Torosidis" (I am not allowed to post URLs yet) you will find a compilation from his first year and a half in Olympiakos, which proves how good he is at his best. I really don't hope he does'nt leave Olympiakos, but we should consider selling if a bid at over 6 mill € arrives I think. A complete right-back, which also plays good at DM, right midfield and centreback. He is used as a leftback at the NT, but he is not so good there as he is in some other positions.

When that is said, I don't see what Celtic has to offer which Olympiakos has'nt...
