Hes doing well now. Hes very good at going forward, shame hes a full back and can't really defend! Its perhaps a shame for him to have Nakamura infront of him as it leaves him constantly open and restricts his chances to go forward, thus highlighting any mistakes he makes.

That was the game daschoo meant, it wasn't Dundee Utd, it was Hearts and I think it's the only goal he scored so far for us.

I've liked him since his Stuttgart days so I'm very happy his form seems to be on the up.

I'm kinda surprised at the level of praise Hinkel is getting. As far as I can see his form in recent weeks has been acceptable but nothing to write home about. I think some people might be over estimating how good he's been because he's been so bad in the past.

I think he lacks pace and if he has a pacy winger up against him he struggles. He is suspect defensively and in my opinion his crossing is diabolical. The other week at Hamilton I was goin off my head at him...he kept getting in to really good positions then putting * balls into the box that got easily cleared. It's an area of his game he needs to brush up on. Personally I wish he wasn't even in the team, I'd play Mark Wilson at right back. HAIL HAIL

i think goin forward he's a different player, wee bit of work on his defensive side and i think we could see a top full back:50:

He has been playing well over the last couple of months. You don't get 18 caps for Germany and not be decent. Also think Wilson has come on to his game as well.

His overlapping has been very good recently and he would be even more effective if Naka used him more rather than come inside, passing the ball across the midfield, slowing the attack down and letting the opposition defence regroup.

I think folk have been overly harsh on him tbh. You have to give foreign players, especially defenders, at least 6 months to bed in, learn defence drills and a bit of the language etc.

I can't remember the last fullback that Celtic fans actually rated. Maybe Naylor for the first 3 months of his career here, after that you have probably to go back to McGrain. Agathe used to get pelters even though he covered the centrebacks arses countless times with his pace.

A lot of people don't like him either because they feel that he is keeping Caddis out the team.

i was really impressed with him on saterday,,, makes great runs up the wing which naka ignored and cut inside looking for the killer ball, if they worked together that would be a great partnership!

Really impressed with Hinkel at the moment, he's been my man of the match in the past 3 league games.

Lets be serious, 2 to 2.5 million is nothing in todays football so in my opinion absolutely :icon_mrgreen:

Not in the current financial climate. I'd say that to a club with Celtic's finances, £2million+ is a relatively large sum of money.
I'd say for that amount of money we should be getting a decent standard of player.
For example, Donati wasn't good value for money where Nakamura and Boruc absolutely are.

2 mil is a lot of money for us these days but what we did with Hinkle is the right idea. We should go for players out of favour at big clubs who have made a bit of money and now just want to play football.

The other thing we now have remember is that unfortunately pounds don't go as far with todays Euro exchange rate. 2 mill now is about 2.4m euros whereas it used to be about 3m isn't it?

I'd say that was fairly accurate.
We get less Euro's per pound now that's definitely true.

Yes I think he is well worth the 2.5m we paid for him. To be fair he came to Celtic in the middle of last season and it takes time for players to settle into a new team and especially when moving to a new country. Hinkel showed some flashes of his quality at times last season. But now he seems to be growing in confidence in the team and showing some consistency. As much as left back has been a problem for us it looks like we are in good shape at right back with Hinkel.

Hinkel is doing very well now. Solid in the tackle, decent pace, good (vastly improved) distribution, good crosser.

That's what he was sold to us as and he's certainly starting to produce it.

He had a beautiful run against Inverness followed by a gash finish, lol.

I think he's been great these last few weeks.

He's looked like a guaranteed starter lately, a big improvement for him and I hope he keeps it up.

Hinkel is looking a lot better now. We need our full backs to get forward as much as they can in the SPL and he's started doing this. Just a shame he's not left footed. Hopefully Caddis will learn from him and challenge for his place.

Im sorry lads im gonna have to disagree with quite a lot of you here and say id like him shipped out the door asap if we could get the money back we paid but unfortunately we wouldnt, how this guy has 18 caps is beyond most germans even, he is ok at times going forward but again very easily caught out defensively especially at set plays. The only full back that should be remaining in squad past january should be caddis as he has potential, we have doumbe, naylor, wilson and hinkel eating up wages that 2 really experienced astute full back signings could have. These guys are not gonna cut it so why waste any more time or money on them. We need quality not quantity.
