Kennedy is widely expected to sign a permanent deal for Norwich City during the transfer window in January 2009, a fee and terms already having been struck with Celtic. Celtic are thought to have requested first option on Norwich youth starlet Tom Adeyami as part of the deal.

A John Kennedy with the turn of pace he had before being butchered by Ganea is good enough for a start at Celtic. He was progressing at a rate of knots before that Scotland game.

I didn't think he'd ever get back on track after breaking down a couple of times but I hope to be proven wrong!

Nah man, I think our current backline is gOOd enough for the title. Maybe we will get someone in january. And am only saying nah to him coming back in jan coz I like that he's definately getting a game down there, it's the best thing for him. I don't think Strach would drop McManus coz he's the captain and I don't think he'd drop Caldwell coz he's doing great.

Was becoming a class player before he got injured for Scotland. Had played eachy peachy previous to that but was coming onto a game.

After he came back he would well then not so well. Dont think he will be the player he was meant to be. Dont see why he should get a run in the team because of his injuries. That dont merit you anything. He wouldnt walk into th eteam either. He is far from at that stage. Mick n GC are the best two combination that we have avaliable.

He is due back in January, wether the loan is extended or not remains to be seen. I hope not, he'll be like a new signing if he comes back in Jan!

Wish he'd never got injured, but i still think he'll go on to be a class player, he only missed 3 years, could have been his whole career.

That might be so, but Celtic are twice the team of any in the championship. Norwich are fighting relegation from the championship. Adam Virgo was Colchester's best defender last season when they were in the same position. Even Malky Makay managed to get promoted into the EPL 2 or 3 times while clearly not being cut out for being an Old Firm player.

Why would a centreback who plays for a team one place above relegation to div 1 automatically walk into the Celtic team and displace our club captain who has helped win us 3 league titles and got us into the last 16 of the CL twice?

3 years out is a massive length of time but especially at the point where a player has broken into the first team. He played well against Barca 4 years ago but he only made 10-20 appearances in total for the club. I wish the guy all the best but how bad do people think our current team is if JFK can go straight in to our team by proving his fitness at Norwich?

he had the potential to be great, he started what 8 games for us and really looked the business before his injury but you have to remember that all the hysteria about how great he is is based on this initial spell. david marshall, mark burchill and plenty of others were the best thing going after a similar number of games. any player suffering an injury like this will always be talked about in the same way, durrant for example, and the longer they're out the team the more fondly they're remembered, ie balde.
kennedy may well have gone on to be a great but the harsh reality is he never was and we'll never know how good he could have been. since coming back from the injury he has looked unconvincing any time he was played for us and i don't tend to watch many norwich games so couldn't comment on his current form

people keep saying that but I dont think they watch it. The championship is very poor technically and the passing is dire. Loads of punts up the park. Its shocking. I also think the bottom of the EPL is tripe. A watched sunderland v west ham and it was way inferior in terms of passing than the SPL. Simply diabolical. The SPL for all its limitations these days is a good passing league and teams are hard to beat because they are good at retaining possession. They have that small country continental savvy where coaches have made the most of the limited players. The general standard of passing and possession in the SPL is miles better than it was in the past.

Thats what I think he lacked in his games early last season before he got injured again. All his pace and mobility seemed gone and he looked a biy like a right footed McManus. I hope that he comes back and suceeds with us but only if he can regain his pace. I actually watched the Norwich - Notts Forest game a week or so back and I was impressed by his agression. BTW, that game was like the Scottish 1st division, simply diabolical standard of football.

    Celtic and rangers apart,

Hearts Hibs Aberdeen DUFC stMIRREN Hamilton Motherwell Kilmarnock Falkirk Inverness if a championship side want one of their players they will just have him nae problem.:87:

Back to the original point if JFK can play at that level he can surely play against the teams in the premier.

The point is SPL has a distinct style that is not down to great individuals. In the last 5 years a very similar passing/possession at all costs style has developed in the SPL. Its not like English football at all. Its probably more like the style in smaller continental countries - the sort of style that wee international sides often use with some success against the big guys. The championship is nothing like the SPL There are many better individual players in the championship but the style of the teams is ugly over-physical route-one football of the sort that we thankfully are leaving behind us in Scotland. Seems to be down to coaching.
