Looking at the bare facts we were unlucky to lose given that the goals came from a deflection and on own goal[although Looven's attempted 'clearance' was abysmal] However this run has gone on too long for it to be down to luck.

The players, for all their bravado in the press, obviously don't believe that they can go and win away from home in the CL.That Aalborg side were not much better than Dundee United but there is a huge mental problem there and maybe we need a sports psycologist or something because this can't go on.

I was shouting for Maloney to come on for half an hour before he did,Sheridan somehow managed to do worse than Samaras when he came on and Loovens was dodgy as * all night.

2 points from a possible 15,-5 goal difference. That says it all IMO.It's gutting but if you have that record over your CL campaign then you don't deserve to stay in Europe after Christmas.I hope the players of this great football club are embarassed. We'll be in seeded Pot 4 of the in the group stage next season so it will be even harder to get out of the group than it has been in years.

Although all of the above is true IMO,maybe we can take some positives from the situation. We had a lot of injuries and half fit players over the campaign and things might have worked out differently if we hadn't been denied the likes of Crosas,JVoH and McGeady for important games. We have a young side that is learning all the time and will mature physically and hopefully become stronger mentally as time goes by.Some say you learn more from defeat than you do from victory and maybe this result can be the the catalyst for a turnaroud.:50:

Because for once we got a lead for once and unlike Manchester two years ago, we had a great chance of keeping it.

Put simply its the boards fault. As long as were winning the league they think that no new players are needed. However the SPL is a pishpot and saying that we were blessed to win it last year. But the fact is, if your not moving forward your moving backwards. I know we don't have same resources but look for example at Man Utd, in 2007 they won the Premiership and then they go and buy Anderson, Nani , Hargreaves and Tevez, last year they win the double. Strachan got Celtic to last 16 two years in a row and instead of building on that they do nothing and the consequences of this was shown last night and also during the whole campaign. It was the same with MoN after Seville. We were at a crossroads then and instead of following the ambition of the likes of Lyon, the board were content being Rosenberg. Instead of backing the manager they do sweet fck all.
But Celtic will propably win the SPL again this year (hopefully) and no major investment in the team will be the case. The board has to release that that celtic is a football club first and foremost not just a buisness.
Im not saying go crazy but a little bit of ambition please. Look at Olympiacos, they did'nt win an away CL game in 31 attempts. They bought a few players of good quality i.e Galliani and this year they beat Werder Bremen away.

It's like the players didn't know what to do, it was as if we was chasing the game at 1-0 up. A second goal wasn't essential. We held off Man utd and Villarreal longer than we did AAlborg, why didn't they just play defensive ? Last 20mins we looked so tired. All ifs and buts now i suppose.

    I put this point across in another thread;

"Big Caldwell made an interesting point though. He said that after Aalborg got the equalizer, the lads got the skitters and couldn't pull themselves together. That is a serious issue in dire need of addressing."

Think he said it in the press conference.
Anyhow, conceding a goal should be taken as an insult and an invitation to come out fighting. The Hoops cowered away like wee boys and fell apart.

    One more thing:

It's nights like last night that make the big wins so much sweeter.Take the pain and the slagging, hang in there because we will come again. This is what supporting Celtic is all about, experiencing the highs and lows and staying proud.Remember this pain and let it drive us on to success. To anyone who is planning on boycotting the Inverness or Villareal match:* off,we don't need people like you. This is the time that separates the men from the hysterical wee boys.

We are Celtic supporters faithful through and through.
Over and over we will follow you.

Just reading through this thread and I can't believe all the idiots who are still against WGS.:54:

When are they going to wake up and realise that you can't perform miracles spending 7 million?

We were very very unlucky not to beat Aalborg as we were miles ahead of them in terms of quality which was good to see. If we would only buy a quality striker, we'd be up there with the 2nd seeded teams but we never learn. We just do enough to beat a hard up Rangers team year in year out.

I expected very little from our European run this season anyway. Lets do 4 in a row and BUY a quality striker in January so he's ready for next season.

Obsiously its not gonna help us win games. Why do people moan though? Because they are frustrated..... If the team people love and support didnt frustrate its fans then we wouldnt moan would we? :icon_mrgreen:

If we complain it will hopefully bring change so i say moan like fck lol

How much did Aalborg spend in the summer, do you know ?

No, stats don't win matches, but if you dominate in EVERY positive statistic, I'd say you deserve to win a match.

Because we kept them out for a long time doesn't suddenly mean we deserve 3 points .

and I am a Manchester United fan, but Celtic is my main team ( When they meet I want the hoops to win obviously ). Just like the amount of Irish lads on here, I guarantee 99% of them will have an Irish team.

If you think Celtic deserved to beat United, then fair play to you, but I'd say your being a wee bit biased.
