Every footballing nation recognises Celtic as a Scottish club. That's the truth whether folk like it or not. We have Irish links, and proudly so in my opinion. The main thing is we're all tims!:50:

:56::56: glad you have noticed that the fans fly to glasgow for the matches as it would be very silly if they didnt. you have got me wondering if you have ever flown elsewhere as you seem like the sort of chap verging on the border of senile.

most foreigners refer to us as Glasgow Celtic??? *

they refer to us as Celtic Football Club. ( no glasgow in that name)

Think you will find that Irish nationalists/republicans

Don't recognise Northern Ireland as a political entity

Why should they, it is after all an illegal state founded for protestants and gerry mandered to suit the protestant majority.

Congratulations on derailing the thread about having butchers aprons flying at paradise though. :50:

took you a while to find a map of that imaginary 'country'. the fact that you went looking for one is a bit sad tbh. believe why you want but i as an irishman stand my ground in saying from north to south it is just Ireland nothing more nothing less

There is no need to attack me personally.
If you need to know, I've flown to over 20 different countries on different continents. Where you get the insult of me being senile from, I don't know as it is very far from being true.

And yes, it is Celtic Football Club. But foreigners do refer to the club (wrongly) as Glasgow Celtic.

I also stated that opposition fans fly to Glasgow and not Ireland because you said that Celtic was an Irish club based in Scotland. I was just proving my point that Celtic are a Scottish club based in Scotland.

It doesn't matter if Irish nationalists/republicans don't recognise Northern Ireland as a political entity. It is still a country whether or not republicans choose to recognise it's existence or not.

This has went miles off topic. If it continues down the IRA, Northern Ireland blah blah boring pish that we've been over 500 times i'll just close it.

Celtic play their football matches in Glasgow, Scotland in the Scottish Premier League. I'm pretty sure i don't need to give most of you a history lesson as to how we started and by whom. We are not an Irish football club BUT we have proud intrinsic links with Ireland that we are all happy to celebrate. Why does their have to be a line drawn? Can we not be a Scottish club proud of our Irish links?

my mate moved over to Ireland 3 years ago from Trinidad and Tobago and he didnt associate the word Glasgow with Celtic he and his friends referred to our team as Celtic Football Club and that was all.

Well that is just one person.
I've spoken to many foreigners on holiday who refer to the team as Glasgow Celtic.
Anyway, this has gone off topic and it's the last I'll be posting in this thread.

if you truly believe we are a Scottish club than so be it. i have my beliefs that we are an Irish club in Scotland and so do many others.

the fact that even some scottish people that follow Celtic can admit we are an Irish club shows that they arent denying our real roots and are very proud of who we are, despite not being Scottish. to those people out there like that i salute you.:50:

Yup, seen many times on TV outside the UK us on the screen as "Glasgow" verus Aberdeen etc.

I have no problem with us being know as Glasgow Celtic, as we are from Glasgow and Glasgow is a city to be proud of coming from :50:

Celtic where often referred to as Glasgow Celtic especially by older supporters from Belfast to avoid confusion with Belfast Celtic

Explain how we are an Irish club ?

we were founded by an Irish man, in the east end of glasgow.

we play in the scottish premier league.

our home ground is in Glasgow, which is in Scotland.

if both a baby's parents are Italian, and the child is born in France, technically the child is French.

so just explain to me, how on earth we are an Irish club.

papers mean nothing. your nationality is based on who makes you. (parents)

Shaun Maloney was born in Malaysia does that make him technically Malaysian??? no it does not. his parents are Scottish therefore hes Scottish. Celtic was born in Scotland but it is Irish due to its Founder

    This has ran its course.

Celtic fans arguing amongst each other what the nationality of our club is :87:
