Think it’s unfair to say Ipswichs success was all down to Jamestown.

It’s understandable that the Premier League was too much of a step up, that wasn’t because Jamestown wasn’t available to them anymore.

They are still right in it this season too, they’ve not had some monumental fall off.

Honestly that’s how I feel whoever comes in. Feels like a completely new era.

Although I will be raging if it’s Keane.

A new era would be structural and personnel change in the board. If that happens yep, all in behind Nancy or Knutsen or whoever the next manager is.

Don’t want Rabbi Keane though for obvious reasons.

What about the ol' "European tax laws" ?

If its nancy then of course I'll get behind hm but I just got a bad feeling about this.

If Ange wasn't so successful here, I don't think many would be excited or willing to gamble on Nancy, I think parallels are being drawn (wrongfully or rightfully).

Just seems a huge gamble and right now, I don't think we need huge gambles. We need an appointment that suggests it shouldn't be risky and represent a big chance for success.

If Nancy gets it, I hope I am proven spectacularly wrong.

Watched that review video of Nancy and i get a bit worried. His team is Rank 1 on passing, rank 1 on short passing, rank 1 on passes completed and rank 1 on passes into the box

But LAST in the whole league on long passes.

His tactics is to a extreme level of BR type play and teams in this league have become professional at stopping that kind of play by parking the entire team in the box.

Sorry but i think it will be disasterous. Possession tiki taka is a dying game.

I would get behind him but what we need is a manager that switches things up depending on what team we are playing. This same style every game is * lazy.

Nancy pass the ball all the way into the opposition net.

    Ok then.
Help me understand the differences in terms of record and football style.

Promoted to EPL playing attractive, out from the back, high press 'modern football' - great start
Relegated after being found out at higher level in EPL - didn't have players to implement his 'style'
Now struggling in championship despite huge parachute payment and investing when in EPL - sitting outside play offs, below Stoke, Hull, Preston and Millwall

The only difference v Martin is that he didn't get fired in EPL.

This is a guy who's stock is plummeting by the week and will end up sacked by Ipswich, never mind getting a bigger job.

Lastly, if he wasn't a N.Irish 'sellick man', would he even be linked?

(Agree with you on Nancy by the way - he's not for us either for similar reasons)

You've just instantly put me off. I was told his teams score loads. Maybe its his formations are different so it works.

I don’t know anything about him but I absolutely canny go all that possession for the sake of it pish like Rodgers used to do.

Someone has to tell him day 1 that every team will set up to let you have possession in this league so it’s a completely useless aspect of the game up here. It’s everything else that’s important.

We'll always have the bulk of possession in every domestic game..

Its what you do with that possession, how progressive we are.. the tempo we play at and how aggressive we press..

Ange's side was possession based yet totally different from Rodgers.. but even if you look at Rodgers style, we scored an incredible amount of goals last season and there's no doubt it was successful for him and us..

No point punting long balls into a low block..

On Nancy, apparently he allows players to 'problem solve' themselves on the pitch and varies shape in game.

Its like anything, recruit the best players and the system matters less.

Don't get me wrong Nancy would be a risk, but don't actually see him any riskier than the other realistic candidates mentioned.

    McKenna is nothing like Martin.

We can’t just compare these Championship managers to Martin. Done it with Rohl too who is far more similar.

Martin was incapable of changing tactics, McKenna does it all the time. There’s a couple of great videos on YouTube if you look up Kieran McKenna Tactics.

Martin wasn’t a highly rated coach at one of the biggest clubs on the planet, McKenna was. He was being touted as the next big thing and possible Man United manager.

He also just speaks far better than Martin.

Aye, I’d much rather a player just tried something rather than this recycling pish if something isn’t on.
