The one benefit of the doubt I'd give him is the MLS is a pretty even League so it would be equivalent of us in Europa league. If you look at our history in the we generally are about even on goals scored/conceded.

In Spfl even if out style is more open then majority of teams in the league are too * to take advantage of it anyway

The salary cap in the MLS is set up with parity in mind.

That’s why there’s rarely a dominant team over a sustained period.

Aye. Hopefully having superior defenders in comparison to other spl teams should keep that down. Attacking football will always leave the back door open a bit more though. Its europe id be more worried about.

That's the real danger, we could be tossing the league away to Hearts or Rangers, under a relatively inexperienced manager like Nancy, who I take it knows nothing about Scottish or even British football. Being thrown in at the deep end, when Celtic FC are in Board/Fan turmoil, behind in the League, have a tough League Cup Final coming up, and with Rangers consolidating again under Danny Rohl. I can understand why Rangers and Heart's fan would be licking their lips at us appointing a rookie like Nancy as manager, especially this turbulent year of all years. My strong preference is for a more experienced and equipped manager in the moulds of Hayen, Knutsen, Muscat and McKenna, who I think would be more likely to hit the ground running.

Pretty much, salary capped and generally a much more level playing field than here. It's always difficult trying to translate managers records to our league with the position we're in, whatever manager comes in I doubt we're going to start leaking a massive amount of goals simply because of the quality of player we have relative to the rest of the league. Ange was all out attack and we didn't concede a huge amount in his time domestically, the same as him the concern would probably be would he be more pragmatic against better teams in europe or be married to a style/system even if it gets exposed.

Tbh mate, I'm kinda done talking about Rodgers and want to look to the future.. which is very difficult with this regime.

We can talk about him again when we hear his side of events, probably through a new book launch knowing him..

Danny Rohl has been a manager for 2 seasons previously and has been pumped by the 3 decent teams he’s come up against at the huns.
You’re talking like he’s made them into unstoppable world beaters.

For the avoidance of doubt, my reference to Rohl is regarding the SPL. They are only five points behind us now, and look more settled under Rohl in the league. It would be careless and amiss of me to discount them as potential league challengers.

Celtic have been holding talks in London this week with various targets as they continue their search for a new manager.

Sky Sports News revealed on Monday that the Hoops have drawn up their shortlist of candidates to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Columbus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy, Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen and Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna are believed to be among the names the club are considering.

The Celtic hierarchy are also due to sit down with interim boss Martin O’Neill and assistant Shaun Maloney to discuss their futures beyond the current international break.

The Hoops are searching for a new manager after Rodgers resigned at the end of October.

Also among the names on Celtic’s radar is Wales boss Craig Bellamy, Club Brugge’s Nicky Hayen and Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane.

Lawwell is still there sitting in the boardroom as Chairman. I don’t believe for a second that he’s not influencing and meddling in things

I don't think he's qualified enough to be our manager, but he's done well in the MLS with a smaller budget than a lot of other teams, and has the players playing decent football (apparently).
Sounds like Ronny again, but he'll have more competition in our league than RD did.

    *Edit from the board...

However... If he can get our players playing decent football, then we should win the league still.

    Yours faithfully

    Dermot Desmond
