That was one of the issues mate, we knew Moi, Barkas had a couple good performances for us and was highly rated so we went for it, Laxalt Lenny was aware with because he’d watched him in the World Cup for Uruguay, Shane Duffy we all knew about. Ajeti came from the scouts.

One of them was down to scouting. One.

That’s how much they destroyed our scouting system.

Penrice is head of recruitment, and on reflection that title been given should have been one of the first signs Lawwell was gearing up for retirement.

It will be interesting to see if and how they fit into our plans now.

Was looking for the guy we appointed that was at Ipswich, can’t remember what title we gave him but Lefevre came up for head of scouting.

He was highly rated as a scout at Arsenal, anything about him for us has been positive and annoyingly overlooked and ignored during Mark Lawwell * and BR trusts him which was why after the wee power struggle Lawwell jr and his mate got * and necked he’s top of the pile.

But was actually gobsmacked about him being only 33, he’s an experienced pro as well. Looked up his career further, at 15 he was match analyst for * Bournemouth, been at Brighton at 17 scouting, was at Arsenal early 20’s and us since. He left Brighton for Millwall and they brought him back, when Brighton were getting the structure they have now in place. He was still about 19 then.

I thought with his career and experience he was 40’s/50’s. * a prodigy.

Would be good if we used him really.

See being fair I don’t think actual player identification is our problem, we seem to be able to find good players but actually landing them always seems to be a challenge.

Aye he's been on the books for awhile.

He's held this title for a few seasons as well though. Even with ML and JD in, they all seemed to have the top jobs of very similar roles
    "Head of scouting"
    "Head of recruitment"

But never do we often have many scouts or recruitment or analysts teams for these guys to be the head of.

Whole thing needs restructured, be that with this lad or not (no knowledge of what he brings or doesn't so I'm easy with him).

Celtic’s Head of Scouting Operations has agreed a move to English Championship side Swansea.

Hired from Arsenal by former Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond, Jay Lefevre has been overseeing the Parkhead scouting system since December 2019.

Responsible for producing reports on transfer targets and overseeing the pool of scouts, the Englishman worked under managers Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers recently left the club after public criticism of the transfer strategy in recent windows.

And Lefevre is the latest to depart after Chief Executive Michael Nicholson acknowledged the failings of the summer transfer window and promised a review of how the club go about their business.

Rodgers aired frustration over transfer strategy while supporters were also been heavily critical of the club’s approach to the market after they failed to strengthen key attacking positions before the Champions League exit to Kairat Almaty.

In the club’s recent financial statement Nicholson said: "This year, regretfully we did not achieve all of our objectives in the transfer window.

"We share and understand our supporters’ disappointment and frustration, and we will continue to seek to review and improve our strategy and execution as the market continues to evolve."

Lefevre's move to Swansea comes amid reports that the club are about to sack manager Alan Sheehan.

    "pool of scouts"

    What scouts :56:

As I said, head of departments, but very little below all these "head" titles.

In fairness to the guy, we actually were being linked with plenty of decent and/or promising players in the last window, and you would presume that there’s even more that never make it to the press. The issues largely seem to be with enacting upon the scout’s reports and the board’s apparent reluctance to spend money.

Who knows if there’s anything to read in to the timing of his departure, but I’m choosing to go full hopium and believe that it’s part of a potential overhaul, and that we’re planning to raid one of these well run continental clubs of their scouting/footballing setup to bring in alongside our new manager. It’s the hope that kills you, but it’s still nice to dream in the meantime :giggle1:

Again I'm not sure he'd be the first on the firing list.

Just someone thrown to the wolves nae doubt and told to look for another job.
