This is true, and was an exaggeration for him but a highly rated young player in the Bundesliga, who was impressing in the league and also highly rated by a national set up that has been producing consistently great players would be accurate.

Started well with us then as we got closer to Xmas went off the boil a bit when we as a team went of the boil, played well in the European games where the emphasis is on playing quality football.

Think he's still adapting to the football and life here, we find his best position and play him there under a new manager then hope to see the best of if him, then he will probably leave for a high fee it will likely be more than we signed him for unless we just scrap him in january.

We signed petrov back in the day when he was 19 I think we were supposed to sign a Bulgarian winger with him but it never happened he took a good year or so to settle I'm sure and then became a sensational player, when Scott brown came he was like a daft headless chicken running about getting booked every game and eventually became a great for us.

Sometimes you need to give time for players to settle, I think he could do with some better players around him which will happen soon I hope

Cut above Hatate technically. Penalty is a great example. Hatate tries the same the other night and nearly misses. Engels goes the same way, keeper drives the right way but the LICK AND CURL on the ball leaves the keeper with no chance.

Just need to find his bedt position...with MON opting a deeper role....which we've all said for a while.

 

You could tell he was desperate to play as well, probably gutted when we made those 3 subs and he never came on knowing we only had 1 more sub break to use but he stayed out warming up the entire time till he got on about 15 minutes later.

Then came on with great energy.

 

He's been a lot better of late but would still trade him for an O'Riley in a heartbeat.

 

To be fair that kind of ball was something we saw quite a bit last season when he was IMHO good overall without been dominant. Clearly for whatever reason he has struggled in the early going of this season but it seems he is one of those benefiting from the return of O'Neill and its been great to see him starting to get his confidence and form back and that brilliant assist for Maeda's goal can only further boost his confidence.

Definitely. Engels 100% has those passes in the locker if given the licence..

We've seen it from the back as well. The likes of Trusty spreading 70 yard diagonals in almost every game since being back. Some of our rivals biggest weaknesses and we have players to expose teams with it..
