Game against RB Leipzig was one of the best games i’ve seen us play in years.

One of their players said after it that they couldn’t catch a breath and every time they turned there was a Celtic player :giggle1:

Spot on was the centre mid that was at Dortmund before, name escapes me. How we took the game to Bayern in the Allianz as well..

We genuinely had the explosiveness up top to scare sides. That elite level speed of Kuhn and Maeda was massive..

1998 after Wim Jansen left it seem to take ages for us to get a new manager (nothing unusual) and with no internet all the continuous names were fed to us through the papers. Tuned into every hourly Clyde news bulletins for news before it was finally announce by Keevins who was a snider way back then...."The new Celtic manager will be Dr Josef Venglos" and he said with a sarcastic glee in his voice. Venglos done his best but had never been mentioned before that day

On Rodgers "eye bleeding" football, that's harsh.

This season it was baws but the forward line played a big part in that. Evident now as well his own ego and the conflict with the board impacted players and performances too.

People weren't calling it eye bleeding when we were going toe to toe with Bayern 8 months ago. Or winning titles.

Ultimately that's what this club is about. Winning domestically first and foremost and he was an expert at that, like him or loathe him.

It was the right time to part ways but, I still think folk will get a shock. I don't trust this board to make the correct appointment and back the right man. But time will tell.

If we can get someone who plays swashbuckling football at home and abroad all the while winning trebles and beating the Huns everytime then some job. As that's what some folk seem to expect now.

All out attack football will not see us move forward in Europe, anyway. Going from Rodgers to someone like Nancy would, on paper, be quite a step down. Might well pay off, but it's a huge risk at a time where we need to be as sure as we possibly can be on the next guy.

Being able to beat teams consistently domestically again would be an improvement on him

What a pair they were :50:
    Talking about that.
Is it not strange Broony has not featured in the ratings.?
Could Brown be the dark horse ?

As I said it was the right time to part ways for everyone. Not denying this season it had gone sour.

But folk are trying to rewrite history a bit on him. Anyone who emulates the level of success he brought will be doing well. Very well.

Very much agree with you there. It is going to be very difficult for us to find someone who is even on a par with the level of Brendan Rodgers when it is Desmond and his board cronies who will be making the decision. The very same people who did 2 public hit pieces on Brendan Rodgers and who themselves sabotaged our own team this summer and not for the first time lets not forget what they did the first summer after Rodgers came back. No truly top quality manager is coming to Celtic while Desmond and his board cronies are still in charge and ready to sabotage the team and stab the manager in the back.

Twice weve appointed "unknown quantities" in my years as a tim.

The first was Ronny. I wasnt convinced, and actively opposed it. But folk forget that we actually played some very very good stuff in his early tenure after the Legia disaster of course. He was actually very popular at one point. Folk loving the Ronny roar and admiring his passion. His ultimate downfall, imo, wasnt his tactics or personality, but his over reliance on Collins.

Ange was different. I was all for it, mostly because of his reputation with the Australian national side. He faced a lot of blowback but one interview for Celtic TV and his famous "we dont stop" rant at the players at training was enough to win folk over.

Nancy, imo is a bigger gamble that either of these.
Ronny had experience and trophies in Norway, and was being pursued by a host of Scandinavian "big clubs".
Ange had a fantastic reputation in Asia. Had won multiple titles in 2 different countries, and made the Australian national team a real competitive side.

Nancy has a Canadian title, and an MLS title. Imo, weaker achievements than either of Ronnys or Anges Norwegian or Japanese titles, and not a kick in the * of an A-League title.
More importantly, as many folk have said, we dont have the current players to facilitate his style of play, and we simply cannot afford to gamble, hoping like Ange, he can draft in a load of players to facilitate that.
Hes also known to be quite thin skinned. Spitting the dummy and resigning from Montreal after their owner complained about losing to a bottom ranked side; apparently had to be convinced to stay by his own players.

Every manager is a gamble. My number one pick Hayen is a big gamble. Even everyone's favourite Knutsen is a gamble, perhaps a bigger gamble than most will admit to.

The name of the game is to minimise risk by doing your due diligence on a manager, analysis on how they play, how they communicate with players, are they adaptable, analysis of their career statistics and achievements.
But nooooooo. AJ knows him and Tisdale knows his assistant. Typical * bullshit.

The guy never kicked a ball above League 2 in France and has been a manager for 4 years in North America.
He isnt a Celtic manager. He's an assistant manager.

Any new manager is a gamble. This isnt a gamble. Its just pure * laziness imo.

    Knutsen isn’t coming here.

He’s knocked back Ajax before who are as big a club as we could be without our directors.

Plus his current club have an actual structure in place.

He’d be off his rocker to even consider it.
