I am pretty confident that possession football will die in the near future. Teams have become very good dealing with those teams.

The only teams who should maybe stick to that * are those with a lack of pacey forward players but overall technically gifted, like Croatia NT. Celtic have loads of pace up front.

Exactly what I thought would happen.

A few wins and some folk are talking about appointing him. Need to avoid this kind of talk. Martin O’Neill isn’t the long-term answer regardless of a few wins.

Delighted he’s doing well of course

Our next 2 league games are away to St Mirren and away to Hibs, two fixtures where we’ve struggled in the past. Now at the stage where appointing a new manager in this international break would probably be a bigger gamble than not tbh.

The dopamine hit has worn off and I do think it's necessary we bring in someone over the break. However, if MON and/or Maloney were to be involved in some capacity I wouldn't be against it.

Still think we need to be appointing a manager during this break. MON has been brilliant at steadying the ship, but it has to be a very temporary fix.

Go and get Knutsen or McKenna.

It's inevitable, aye, just the way football goes. Tactics develop in cycles and it's obvious we've reached the end of the pure possession Pep-inspired one. As you say, teams have become too good at stopping that style - it's been sussed out.

If it's McKenna then should definitely be during this break, I don't see the point of leaving it later. If Knutsen then he won't leave until the league ends or if they can no longer win it.

Only one I'd want more than MON potentially is Knutsen but I highly doubt it'll happen.

People thinking that the turnaround from MON would have had us not getting beat in Europe were well off it.

Eventually the squad that's been built would need to step up and there's no manager on earth that I'd have confidence in getting a result in Europe with that squad especially on his 3rd game with no preseason.

Any manager coming in would be a temporary fix for this season. The issues are systemic and go well beyond that managerial role.

Knutsen or MON until the summer for me.

The Celtic hierarchy are still pondering over whether to extend interim boss Martin O’Neill’s time in charge of the club, with a busy set of fixtures and cup final on the horizon after the international break.

That could allow time for some targets to become more available later in the year. As Sky Sports News revealed last week, Celtic are pleased with the way O’Neill has galvanised the squad and lifted the mood at Celtic Park.

Discussions between principal shareholder Dermot Desmond and O’Neill are due to take place this week.

I love Mon, but the strain of this job could knock him sick.

He's such an intense man, and I think it is taking a toll on him already.

Would definitely go for McKenna but can't see the Board stumping up £5 million in compensation to get him.
