There’s no way out of this for Lawwell and his pals and their way of doing things. They have to go. If they don’t the club is not worth supporting. They have to go and take their ways with them.

He's already turned down jobs from plenty of clubs bigger than us, that is totally untrue.

Yes, but that was because Desmond rated him and funded the expenses. No other manager could get anything close to 70K.

Clubs like Ajax. Ajax are bigger than us; but not so that we can't compete with them financially. Even at that, I think we'd be unlucky if many clubs as big as Ajax were looking for a manager right now and interested in Knutsen.

Another important point is that, unlike previously, it does look like he is ready to leave Bodo. I imagine Ajax might get a different answer if they wanted him now.

Forget about Knutsen mate, any upcoming manager does their due diligence on us, they run a mile..

Even if he was promised a mandate to change our structure, you couldn't trust our board to fulfill that promise.

I largely agree. I don't think we'll get him and I don't even know if we want him. I was merely arguing against putting him in the same basket as guys like Rose or Hayen. In the case of those last 2, we have zero chance no matter how much we offer them.

In the case of Knutsen, I think we'd have a chance. The guy clearly likes money to an unusual degree and that's one thing we do have. Money.

I think we would have a chance. A chance, not a likelihood.

The concern for me is continuing this cycle of short-term fixes with managers we know can keep us slightly ahead of Rangers but in all likelihood won't take us any further than that.

I'm tired of being stuck with the same rehashed ideas from recycled managers without a genuinely sustainable plan behind it. That's more an issue for me than the individual names.

If we went with Knutsen, I'd like to think it's because Knutsen had a guarantee that the club would operate in a certain way over the course of the next 5 years to help him achieve what's he's achieved at his incumbent club.

I can't pull names out a hat because I don't have time nowadays with two kids and a 50 hour work week to keep tabs on international football and know which managers are doing what, and I'm not gonna blag you by regurgitating opinions I've seen online. But I know Ange and what's he's capable of, likewise Rodgers, Lennon, MON, etc.

For me, Ange is a sideways step.

I bet you Rodgers didn't come back without verbal promises about our transfer approach. I remember he seemed really happy with the new way we did stuff. Of course, there was no new way: it was just Ange doing half the board's job for it.

Why would anyone believe our board?

I agree and based on history you wouldn't, but the fans are at breaking point now so it's either a complete U-turn in how they operate with fulfilled promises or continued pressure from the fans which will ultimately only end one way.

From the boards perspective they must know the writing is on the wall for them. How they respond is still up for grabs.

    Responding to Celtic interest

Where Glimt ends up in the table remains to be seen. So does Kjetil Knutsen's contract situation.

The 57-year-old's current contract with Glimt expires after the season, and Celtic are said to have the successful coach on their radar.

Nothing is certain in life. I am here now and I am happy, and then we can enjoy a nice football match. It is hopeless to answer about other clubs, says Knutsen.

    – I answer as I always do – it should be something that is more exciting than Glimt, concludes Knutsen.

With the fantastic work MON have done, we should only look at the absolute top targets. Otherwise just give it to MON.

Whatever happens I hope we don’t get a silent treatment from the board. Either announce someone or at least tell us they are waiting for someone (e.g. Knutsen).

For Knutsen if Bodo fails to win at home to Juve in their next game then their campaign is effectively over with the remaining games being Dortmund Away, Man City Home and Atletico Away. If that transpires then I don’t see why he’d want to see out the two games in January.

Obviously take with a pinch of pepper here
    https://www.teamtalk.com/news/celti...sen-as-mckenna-proves-problematic-keane-waits

Celtic are readying a formal move for Bodo/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen after learning the 56-year-old is hungry for a bigger stage, while TEAMtalk sources can also reveal where the likes of Kieran McKenna and Robbie Keane stand on taking the Parkhead reins.

The Norwegian, whose contract at Bodo/Glimt comes to an end in January, has told confidants that Parkhead’s scale, budget and European nights match his ambitions perfectly.

Knutsen has turned Bodo into a Scandinavian powerhouse, with four league titles and a Europa Conference League semi-final, while also adopting a playing style that blends high pressing with fluid attack.

Celtic scouts rate him the standout foreign candidate; his availability with minor compensation makes the deal even sweeter. Bookmakers now make him 3/1 favourite, ahead of interim boss Martin O’Neill, and that’s not a surprise.

Kieran McKenna is still prized by the board. The 38-year-old Ipswich chief has rebuilt the Tractor Boys with back-to-back promotions, though instant relegation from the Premier League sees them currently sat seventh in the Championship.

Celtic want an interview, but prising him away mid-season would cost north of £5million and faces stiff resistance. McKenna’s recent “here forever” pledge hasn’t cooled internal optimism – he remains the domestic dream.

Robbie Keane has yet to receive a call but would sprint to the table if asked. The 45-year-old former striker has Ferencvaros top of Hungary and going well in the expanded Europa League group stage. His 124 Celtic goals and close relationship with Dermot Desmond keep him firmly in the frame.

The hierarchy wants a permanent name by December. Knutsen’s mutual interest has put the process into overdrive and a Scandinavian revolution could be days away.

With Efrain Juarez’s wildcard pitch fading, Wilfried Nancy and Nicky Hayen linger as backups.

In short, Celtic crave ignition by December; Knutsen’s mutual allure could seal a Scandinavian sensation

Don't know anything about this guy, but like the high pressing fluid attack part. Would love Martin to stay in some capacity though.

Heard one of the guys on ACSOM mention that he went to a event back in the day when Robbie Keane played for Celtic, and a wee kid came up to Robbie and asked him to sign a picture the kid had. Robbie told the kid quoute "I am * busy, get to *"

    No thanks.
