Whenever I think about Desmond I always remember that time and interviewer wanted to ask him questions about Celtic and he got pure furious with him, and said he wanted to quiz him about his Celtic knowledge first to see if he was allowed to interview him.

All Desmond's questions were stuff like, "when did I become Celtic's largest shareholder", "when did Peter Lawwell become CEO". It was obvious that Desmond knows nothing about Celtic as a football team. All he knows about is his wee boy's club he's assembled.

This is the interview here, apologies for the DR link: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport...n=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target

We had our clock cleaned last night not just on the field but also in a way off it by a smaller club who have clear plans and a strategy on how to achieve their goals on what they are trying to do on and off the field to maximize their potential and fair play to them because they showed what an embarrassment Desmond's ownership and sabotaging of our club has done to us.

Regardless of his running of the club, I had no particular dislike of Desmond as a person, but that extraordinary statement changed that for me.

When you think about it, we're actually genuinely quite a dislikeable boardroom. Hiring family members, disdain for ordinary fans, anonymous hit pieces on a Celtic manager, actually boasting about not doing your job properly (Lawwell saying he didn't look at any other CVs before hiring Lenny in the showers) and does anyone remember those guys accosting Lawwell a couple of years ago and the others running off and leaving him to face the guys alone?

I think the season has revealed that the club is being run Desmonds way. He may run the day to day but its his structure thats in place.

Found it pretty pathetic that what mobilised him to stick his head above the parapet was simple to fire broadsides at a departing manager for not be sufficiently subservient to the board in the wake of fan pressure. The message is basically - dont dare question our ways.

Lose as many games as you want as long as take all the flack for the board and sing their praises. But any hint that the club isnt being run optimally but an outstanding board and you can go.

And really - what awful stuff did Rodgers say? In the circumstances he was pretty restrained. He had to deal with weeks on end of questions on shoddy recruitment while the board hid. What did Desmond expect? Another Lennon prepared to praise the board to the hilt as the team crumbled and went backwards? How thin skinned is he? No doubt the GB ban is another moment of pettiness.

His model is obsolete as Europe reminds us consistently. We are an easy mark. That should be what really raises his ire.

We will continue to fail in Europe while this dictator is in charge and I use the word as it seems all decisions are taken by him and he shouldn't have that much power if it's a PLC board but we have seen the evidence over the few weeks he does what he likes and the rest of the board may as well be cardboard cut outs .
So really he's the one that needs to go and the rest of them will fall if we want a new board .
But the problem we have Desmond is hardly in Scotland and only has rare appearances to Celtic park from time to time but we really need a new board with a new vision and with ambition.

Do you want to have nightmares? Even if he dies his useless son will be in charge. He's already involved in the club and would have done something about our structure if he would only slighty care.

My last hope, his kids are creedy basterds and sell his shares.

Club needs gutted so either he gets it sorted, which is obviously very unlikely, or he * off.

We've been stagnating for years while everyone else has been trying to modernise. Building new training grounds means * all when it's the same * happening behind the scenes with youth development and recruitment.

It’s heartening to finally see some heat directed at the ‘Golfer’…

I’ve been banging on for years about him being the real problem…. But he’s been hiding behind his lackies.

Far too long it’s been Lawwell etc getting it… but they’ve been paid well to take the flak .. not that it ever gets much reaction..

He needs to be gone… but unfortunately.. he’s not an employee, just an egotistical absentee landlord. So unless he actively wants to sell up, it remains a tricky situation… and as we all know .. he is already setting things up for his kids to take over the role.

The slight glimmer of hope is the fact that despite being ‘majority shareholder’ it really means ‘biggest shareholder as at 34% he does not have a controlling majority and only commands things due to that ‘biggest shareholder’ status.

We simply need someone else wit h s bigger share of ownership… whether this is through another less egotistical billionaire coming into the scene or through consortium or fan ownership group it will probably require some radical movement in the trading of Celtic plc shares … or for the ‘Auld Grey Tache’ to get the message and actually sell up and retire to the 19th hole or wherever the old * likes to call home.

The ONLY way he would start to panic is if the dividends dried up.. and that would only happen with a complete halt in cash flow … which would need a complete collapse in ST sales. That just won’t happen as there are far too many supporters who will put their matchday ‘fix’ above any principles around the well-being and future of the club.

It’s hard to see how we can get rid of him even in the medium term.

The problem with Desmond not getting flak as much over the years was down to when he took over the reigns and gave us his focus is usually when we seen a change of ambition, within the same sort of financial framework but used more effectively and more ambition. He’d wander back to the golf course, Lawwell would take back his style of leadership and would look like under the same restraints, the CEO is doing it wrong. He would micromanage, would rather 2 * £1.5m fees rather than one good player for £3m.

Looked like the macro from Desmond for how we should be, financially self sufficient dont go outwith our means was right but it was being carried out poorly. And I’m still of that opinion for years that was the problem. But steadily more and more apparent, we have a guy in charge calling the shots who pays little attention to us, has ultimate trust in the guys more visibly running us that get the flak. For far too long. At one point the trust in them was merited, but its stale and in a rut, there’s not been a new voice in the decision making halls for around 16/17 years now. The brief attempt for a fresh voice wanted to involve the fans a lot more, and was met with horror.

And they’re so sure of themselves. They have trophies to point at as proof, and a fat bank account they think would back it up. And they’ve proven over and over again, they look down on the fans that sustain the club. And thats a big problem.
