Can't get excited by any manager knowing the board will * him and us.

Kind of resigned to a Celtic fan Irish guy getting the job and not to bothered

Maybe Maloney wil fit and work was amazed and pleased with his and Martin's resurrection of us

Obviously would love for us to emulate or go one better than your middling European teams that are smaller than us but continually show us the way to do it but we have to get our structure right for that to happen

Your probably right, we’re a big step up from Bodo but not Brugge IMO. I’d imagine he’ll end up with a bundesliga gig but we’ll find out soon.

This is fantasy land on here. Going to be some massively disappointed folk on here when the new manager is announced. More chance of Brendan being back in the dugout next week then Knutsen or Hayen.

I’d say this is our man. Knows the league and the club. Also believes in the data driven approach.

The other one is Marco Rose. Would be my top pick overall.

The others that continue to be mentioned have massive drawbacks or are completely unknown quantities with a lack of winning trophies.

    Fair enough.

I'd disagree though. Hayen and Knutsen have shown success in Europe with clubs that we should easily be emulating if we have anything about us.

McKenna I'd take but not entirely excited by it. He'd also be pretty expensive to appoint when I'd rather it went towards a manager with European experience.

I don't really care what Desmond wants either. He's still part of the problem.

I still think it will be Robbie keane .that's if he rejects the wolves job .. our problem is its not the name club celtic ..its the absolute * putrid standard of scottish football that's our problem of attracting managers like knusten and the brugge guy ..still hoping we can get into some kind of north Atlantic league one day .

I would like our club (Dermot to be precise) to steer away from the stereotypical Irish Managerial appointment, I mean come on Celtic branch out and look a little further afield than the Emerald Isle.

I would be happy with any of these: Knutsen, Hayen, Terzic, Nancy

Is there an other club on the planet where suggestions can range from Steven Pressley to Jurgen Klopp

You may be right, but it's the level we should be pitching for.
We shouldn't be afraid to approach those guys or even higher, if we get a polite decline - that's fine and move on.
Who would have thought we'd get Eddie Howe (only for his backroom staff to kaibosh it)
Who would have thought we'd get Rodgers? O'Neill?
All 3 with proven high level EPL credentials, even if the last 2 also have an emotional pull.

Aim high and let's see where we land.

Not keen on McKenna. Insists on playing it out from the back and was found out in the EPL last year but stubbornly refused to change his tactics. Sound familiar.

Juan Carlos Cacedo, Currently managing Pafos, just beat Villarreal in the Champions league. I'd have him

Yeah. We need results, not a football philosophy.

It’s funny how fashions change in football. A few years ago a team that didn’t try to play out from the back were seen as inferior. Now it’s all much more direct. We have teams in the EPL with squads valued at millions and one of their main tactics is to fire long ball throw-ins like Rory Delap from 20 years ago.

Your team should still be able to play out from the back because if all you do is go long then opponents set up for that and nullify it as well. Improvising and not being afraid to kick against the trends are important.

Anyway as others have said I think all this chat about a list of managers is a cod. We need desperately to modernise as a club. See if MON and Maloney will stay for the rest of the season and get on with that. If MON isn’t up for it just let Maloney take it and get someone else in with him. The focus should be on that board room modernisation that is crucial.

We need a pragmatic manager who isn't afraid to change things up depending on the opposition and the way games are going.

I cannot believe how incredibly stubborn so many managers are. Kompany got found out big time at Burnley - obviously at Bayern with a different calibre of players it works... or has worked so far. Rodgers was at least as bad... 4-3-3 for life.

Sitting deep and hoofballing shouldn't be out of the question in Europe for example... we did it against Atalanta and need to do it more versus strong opposition.

Would certainly put knowing how to win domestically and identify and develop young players above any sort of philosophy.... A Celtic manager should easily be paying his own pages in cl qualification and player development

Agreed. It's finding the balance.. no use being great in Europe if you arent winning away at motherwell, dundee, Kilmarnock etc.. a manager coming in has to win and has to win well for domestically

Managers need to have a philosophy that players know what they’re buying into. With better caliber players Rodgers was bringing success plus better quality football. Rodgers is gone but it seems like there’s a reaction now with some that we shouldn’t appoint someone like MCKennna because he looks and sounds like a younger version of Rodgers? Rodgers was hugely successful domestically and was making improvements in Europe only last season.

Rodgers wasn’t the problem at Celtic. Now that he’s gone he’s definitely not the problem at Celtic. Lawwell and his influence over the way the club operates is and continues to be the problem at Celtic.

Sort that out and then appoint a football manager.
