Nothing would surprise Me with this Board, don't think We are getting a top manager and can't see any top manager wanting to work under this Board.

2 excellent reasons and I'll add a third: control.

Even if we could convince a top manager to come (spoiler alert: we can't) and even if we were willing to provide the backing in the transfer market that such a manager would demand (we aren't), a truly elite manager would inevitably create an additional power centre at this club that wouldn't be totally under the board's control.

    They would never allow that.

I don't think anyone believes we are able to attract truly elite managers though.

Knutsen and Hayen don't come under that bracket either btw. Not yet certainly. They're very good managers evidently but are still at a stage where we COULD attract them.

True. I was still thinking of the mad idea that we could or would try to get Klopp.

I think Knutsen probably ticks more boxes than Hayen as it seems it was him running the whole show, so there is a sense that he could just pick it up and bring it all with him. Hayen seems the more impressive of the two, but he's working within a much more modern and effective system than ours, so it's not clear he could replicate that here.

Hayen or Knutsen the obvious choices.

Do feel like Hayen would be the better choice tho. Just a gut feeling.

Can't see it still but his comments are not discouraging at least.

CELTIC have drawn up a longlist of potential managerial targets – with former midfielder Efrain Juarez put forward as a shock dark-horse contender for the job.

SunSport can reveal Hoops chiefs have identified around EIGHT bosses who could potentially replace Brendan Rodgers.

And it’s emerged that former Mexico World Cup star Juarez is one of the names suggested to the board.

The 37-year-old is currently boss of UNAM Pumas in his homeland having previously won the league and cup double with Colombian giants Atletico Nacional.

And it’s believed he’s been recommended to Hoops chiefs who are setting up initial Zoom call interviews for the coming days.

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna has been strongly linked with the job, as we first revealed, with Bodo Glimt boss Kjetil Knutson and Columbus Crew’s Wilfried Nancy also in the running.

Robbie Keane, now boss of Ferencvaros in Hungary, is also understood to be interested in a return to the club he played for.

Celts chiefs are eager to weigh up alternative names before they make any firm decision.

Juarez – who made just 21 appearances as a young player at Celtic between 2010 and 2012 – would be seen as a hugely risky appointment.

But he’s got strong links with the club having been assistant manager to ex-Hoops boss Ronny Deila at New York City FC, Standard Liegeand Club Brugge, where they won the Belgian title.

That saw him take his first managerial job on his own with Atletico Nacional in Colombia, with Juarez leading the team to a domestic double.

He counted former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as one of his players during his time with the club.

He became boss of Pumas in March this year and has earned rave reviews for the work he’s done so far in turning around the struggling team, despite fan unrest at the club.

Juarez – who speaks FIVE languages – revealed in an interview with SunSport last year that he’d love to become Celts boss one day.

He said: “For me, it will be a dream – and I am a dreamer!”

Martin O’Neill remains as caretaker boss for tomorrow’s Europa League clash with Midtjylland, with Celts facing Kilmarnock in the league on Sunday.

Former Celtic striker Craig Bellamy, meanwhile, has ruled himself OUT of the running.

He says he’s fully focussed on his job as Walesboss and says the Hoops job hasn’t even entered his radar.

Bellamy said: “I’m completely focused on what’s set to come. It’s going to be a playoff in March.

I'd be very wary of any manager coming from Brugge. They seem to be one of these teams with a club vision which the head coach is only a small part of.

They have improved year on year with managers like Phillipe Clement and Ronny Deila. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort of algorithm similar to Tomy Blooms, their signings have been superb.

Quickest way for Hayen to get found out would be to try to replicate that success here with our board signing him guys like Yang and Odin Thiago Holm.

Exactly if we should be looking to take anyone from Brugge or Bodo it should be the CEO

I genuinely don't think Hayen has any interest in moving to us whatsoever and if anything he either wants a bigger contract or is just letting Brugge know that he is wanted man.

I would disagree. McKenna is the obvious one. Irish. Young. Highly rated. Ex Man Utd. Celtic fan. He is the one Desmond wants. I would be convinced on that. And for me he would be a fantastic fit.

Hayen, has never been an option..at least a realistic one. Even more so after tonight..

Any quick glance at our structure, never mind proper due diligence by any up and coming Manager.. would result in a thanks but no thanks..

Without those changes we're reliant on someone with some sort if prior connection to the Club.. a Bellamy, Keane or O'Neil..

Or a gamble, leftfield type like Ange.. the Wilfred Nancy link for example.. there's whole new market there to be tapped.

I think its Hayen for me, slightly over Knutsen.

For the simple reason that hes PRAGMATIC.

His team play dominant possession based football domestically. But adapt to play without the ball in the CL.

Hes taken a couple of pastings yes. But fully expected given the disparity.
Hes also proven his tactics in Europe. 9 against Sevco. 4 against Monaco. 4 against Atalanta. 2 against Sporting and Villa etc etc.

For those saying that theyre afraid that club structure can sometimes dictate the success of a manager, those euro results didnt exist before he came.
They consistently perform on the continent.

Theres another 3 goals scored against Barca tonight. His teams know how to play with and without the ball. He has a great reputation for spotting undervalued players as well as developing youth too.

Knutsen i would be happy with. But i think Hayen is better travelled, and has more actual experience.
