Callum Osmand

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Notorious, Jun 10, 2025.

  1. He robbed us of an absolute classic when you think of it, that Forrest run and nutmeg on Raskin was like Larsson in the 6-2 game and when he played Osmand in, imagine Osmond just dinked Butland which he should have. :55: especially O'Neill being back as manager

  2. He should have dinked it, but he made up for it with the killing goal.
He's only 19, we can forgive him :giggle1:
He's as gallus as * but. I think he will kick on now.

  3. Credit where its due. Was brave from O'Neill and Maloney to put so much faith in Osmand this week but boy did he return that belief in him in spades. He was excellent when he came on yesterday and fully deserved his goal. Really unlucky he didn't get a second as well.

  4. Clarke should be in his ear try and convince him to play for Scotland.

Can’t * believe he was frozen out before after seeing the impact he’s had. Even in his brief cameo against Falkirk you could instantly tell he was a good player.

The defender suffered the setback during last month’s 2-1 Europa League win over Sturm Graz, with scans confirming he will be sidelined for several months. The injury is expected to keep the American international out until early 2026, leaving Celtic short of options at the back during a demanding spell in both domestic and European competition.

Under UEFA’s updated rule, clubs competing in the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League can temporarily register one outfield player to replace a teammate ruled out through serious injury or illness. The measure applies until matchday six of the league phase, which takes place on 9-10 December.

The amendment was introduced to prevent clubs from being unfairly penalised by long-term absences and to protect players from what UEFA described as “additional workload pressure.” Teams must still adhere to the standard 25-man squad limit but can make one approved change within that framework before the final league fixture

One option being discussed is the registration of young forward Callum Osmand, who scored his first senior goal in the 3-1 League Cup semi-final win over Rangers earlier this month. The 19-year-old made his debut against Falkirk just days before and has quickly impressed with his energy and composure.

If Celtic decide to activate the UEFA rule, it would open the door for Osmand to gain valuable European experience while offering O’Neill another option from the bench

  6. Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

If the semi final was over two games. I could see Iheanacho coming on the second leg

He can't play for wales anymore. He is from the Channel Islands and I think after a new ruling he can be claimed by England. In order to play for Scotland he'd need Scottish heritage as that's why he can't play for wales as no Welsh blood in the family

  10. Certainly should be taking advantage of that rule and getting Osmand registered without a doubt. The more depth we have the better over the next couple of months. Plus he flat out deserves the opportunity after his performances this past week.

  11. Well that might explain something. The fact he was struggling to make the Wales underage team was a serious concern about his ability level but if he has in fact been ineligible for them then that would make much more sense having actually now seen him in action.

Speaking of Wales and the Bellamy links, he kind of reminds me of a young Bellamy :fear:

  12. He's Eligible for Scotland. Call him up

It’s such good striker play that goal. Bit of Kyogo about it, something we’ve missed since he was in top form.

  15. You'd do it right now wouldn't you..

    How does he qualify?

  16. The one where he gathered it back to goal swivelled and hit it with his left was Kyogo-esque aswell. Nearly headless Nick pulled off a good save .

  17. He's from Jersey, so he can play for any of the 4 home nations.

  18. The boy must be on cloud nine and people are trying to burst his bubble by making him play for Scotland :giggle1:

  19. Might have a player on our hands
