If Rodgers is leaving, which he will obviously, im not sure he is going to play the players the recruitment department will bring in anyways. Im pretty certain he wont.

Ofc they wont give him the final say when he is leaving a couple of months after the window.

If Brendan is away in June we need quality in Jan anyway.

Failure of the board to accept the above point could mean we throw away the league.

Usual bullshit rumors and promises of trying to get players in and in the end we get a couple of loans in and maybe some kid who we loan out to a lower club and never hear about him again.

Probably not after his first one was decent Kolo Toure came in when we needed a steady player at the back, Sinclair and Dembele both Talisman of the team. Ajer also came in that summer as a young guy.

We did also sign Gamboa who was poor but 3 out of 4 was good going. Although his main trick was he got Armstrong, Rogic, McGregor, Forrest and Tierney to a new level and got Brown rejuvenated was his main impact that year.

After that though we have not had a good transfer window under Rodgers, Summer 24 is probably our next best one or January 2024 worked out in that Kuhn hit form 6 months later and Idah helped us win a double.

You could probably take it further than Rodgers though, see other than Ange season 1 where we had two really good windows, when was our last good one? Like are we talking back to Lenny 2010/11 when we got Izzy, Ledley, Kayal, Hooper, Stokes, Forster and Mulgrew backed up by Commons in January?

We still had Murphy, Cha Du Ri and Ljunberg that year but again about 3/4 pretty good.

So in 15 years we have had about 3 decent transfer seasons.

Great summary. This is where the line should be drawn.

NO EXCUSES NOW!!!! Hearts done it in one summer amd will go again in January. Our excuses are lies.

Hire the right people, get the properly qualified analysts in. Read the data right and do it * properly!

Never understood the narrative we aren't backing rodgers in the summer (or in January) because he's not signing a new deal.
    For two main reasons,
Firstly - and what? We still have this season to play for, regardless, but back the guy and he will want to sign on.
Secondly - if we take that the club do make probably 80-90% of the signings with less being attributed to a manager, then what would they care if Rodgers stayed or doesn't? They'd still need to have invested in these positions anyway.

So didn't really make any sense, from a football and squad perspective, as the manager doesn't really matter to these board *

What does make sense is that they actively just reign things in and look to "unearth a gem" rather than just spend the * * money on proven quality for us

Anyway, bare * minimum this January just to barely function in the second half of the season is a striker, right winger and a * holding midfielder that isn't Callum McGregor out of position.
    As the utterly bare minimum.

But a right back a centre back another right winger and potentially another keeper is what we ought to have (all of the above) signed in the summer, which would have meant UCL playing and not being humiliated and would have meant this coming January would be simply replacing anyone who may want to leave.

But nah, not when Celtic is concerned, scrape through on the basics of basics.

So, nah, what we NEED and what we will GET are wildly two different things

Very well observed. All of the transfer windows you mention have another thing in common - they were rebuilds on the back of failed seasons where we had lost the league/underperformed.

I think what we are now seeing is the team at the end of another cycle, this team, manager and board delivered "the most successful football team in Scotland" but have seriously rested on their laurels (to the ire of the manager) and now they don't know where to go next.

As for the team itself, it feels a bit like watching Mowbray's 09/10 side with Rodgers in charge.

The solution isn’t as simple as throwing money at players. They have to be the right players and it would appear that the entire system is completely broken, from scouting to actually getting the deal over the line.

We are run like an * club in that sense. I don’t see anything changing unless there’s a complete revamp of the system and autonomy given to someone capable of setting it up from scratch.

Personally I’d be throwing the chequebook at someone with experience in the Red Bull Salzburg or Leipzig systems to come in and modernise this club. If it takes time it takes time, it needs done.

Can we ask Tony Bloom how he got players interested in coming to Scotland and around other countries pesky tax laws?

Can't wait to still be waiting for a right winger at 7pm on deadline day. Just love it when there's no real links to a player and I'm refreshing Twitter and here a million times in the hope that some materialises. All while Nicholson is struggling to complete level 11,765 on Candy Crush while his phone rings away in the background. Can't beat it.

I totally agree and it has been a massive failing of this club under the current Board and exec structure.

We always react far too late and fail to properly refresh whilst we are on top. Therefore, it takes a complete flop or embarrassment for something to be done about addressing a team that goes stale.

Rodgers said back in about April this teams heading for a refresh when results got stale as he knew both Kuhn and Maeda wanted away and probably was the same for CCV and Hatate too. Along with the mountain of fringe players that wanted out.

I assume we'll have made a decision come January on the manager.

Still need to do lots of business and I pray that the board will be shamed to action even if we've not made changes in the boardroom.

FC, RW, Maeda replacement (RW), Hatate replacement, CB that has potential to be a starter, RB, Saracchi permanent.

I'd also like to see Donovan, Murray and Osmand go on loan to sides in our league to get minutes.
