    https://talksport.com/football/3699598/will-still-sacked-southampton-next-club-celtic/

Celtic have been told to go pursue a move for Will Still after his departure from Southampton.

The Saints sacked the former Lens boss on Sunday, less than six months after appointing him in May.

Still was only appointed on a three-year deal in May but now leaves St Mary's with the club sat one place above the Championship relegation zone.

Southampton have placed under-21 head coach Tonda Eckert in interim charge ahead of Wednesday's clash with QPR.

Prior to his spell with the Saints, Still found success in France with Ligue 1 sides Reims and Lens.

talkSPORT's Hugh Woozencroft believes he could still make the grade in the Championship.

However, he has instead urged Scottish giants Celtic, who in 1967 became the first British side to become champions of Europe, to swoop for the newly available manager.

Reacting to Still's dismissal on X, Woozencroft wrote: "Will Still will make a very good manager at Championship level.

Yes, there were undoubted poor performances but there were also some very good ones, where, had Saints taken their chances - it would have at least given him more time.

"If I'm Celtic, I'm on the phone in the morning."

Will Still might well become a very good manager, but he's not ready yet. Not even close.

MON and Maloney have got us playing the type of football we've nearly all been crying out for with players BR was getting nothing from plus doing it while we have significant injuries.
I'm quite sure they'd adapt to different scenarios as well.
I think they should be given serious consideration. See how they get on in the next 2 games. If they win away in Europe and against a defensively set up Kilmarnock then they'll have proven themselves in pretty much all the types of games we play in.

Who the * is Hugh Woozencroft and why the * would he think we'd go for a manager with a worse record than Russell Martin with the same team in the same league?

Will Will Still still get another job in England ?

If Will Still will still get a job in England then we will still need to look elsewhere.

If Will still is willing to come here though I will still be against Will Still still.

Mark van Bommel thanks for Celtic and Middle East
AMSTERDAM - Mark van Bommel (48) has four chances to get back to work as a trainer. The 2010 World Cup finalist was asked to succeed the Celtic-fired Brendan Rodgers, but sold the Scots 'no'. Three unnamed top clubs from the Middle East, who wanted to go far financially to incorporate the Limburger, also received zero on the request for the time being. ,,That's right,” says Van Bommel's agent José Fortes Rodriguez, who does not want to comment further

The reason to thank all clubs kindly and politely is remarkable. Van Bommel wants to stay close to his son Ruben. The outside player bought by PSV from AZ was seriously injured and is rehabilitated after his cruciate ligament surgery. Family man Van Bommel puts his family first.

It was a setback for Celtic who said goodbye to Rodgers last week. The club was no longer served by his behavior and communication methods, it became clear. A number of top clubs from the Middle East also saw Van Bommel as the ideal new coach. The Dutchman would have been offered a million-dollar salary, but the former player from PSV, FC Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Orange, among others, proved not to be sensitive to that.

However, it is not excluded that Van Bommel will still go on the luse call from the Middle East at a later stage. He would have already had extensive conversations and been impressed by the various projects. According to those involved, everything looked 'fantastic'. Only the timing is not good.

And so Royal Antwerp remains the last club of Van Bommel for the time being, which also had nothing to complain about a lack of interest last summer and – when Ruben has recovered – wants to get back to work next season. After being brought in by Marc Overmars, he gave his last employer the first Belgian national title in 66 years in 2023.

Why would this be the case? He's clearly stated a reason why he rejected offers. I find this story credible.

There's a lot of chanty wrastlers popping up now to say we have contacted them. :giggle2:

Like some have said already, it's to boost their egos, profile and aspirations. I don't believe a word of it.

I'm starting to come around to the feeling we should keep Mon and Sean in a bit longer, given the new direction, and depth of belief in the players and supporters again.
