    * him. Should be utterly embarrassed with himself how it all ended up. I dont like the board as much as the next person, however Desmond was probably bang on the money with him. Biggest mistake they made was not parting ways sooner.

I don't hate him, but I wanted him sacked from about January onwards. The football was just a chore to watch, especially going to home games because you knew we were going to tediously pass it backward about 600 times to break down whatever team had rocked up to park the bus.

O'Neil has been a breath of fresh air.

    Mad how quickly * changes.

He brought us a shitload of success, his issues with the board spot on. He has been in two spells a great manager for us, but by the time he left on Monday just not in his ability to deal with this season and it’s issues.

And that will always be what stops him from reaching the top managers echelon, he doesn’t learn, sure in him knowing what should work and when it gets stale he can’t understand why and he won’t admit to himself he’s wrong. If he could, he could be a much higher level.

But he done a lot for us as a club, grateful for that.

    He’s just a bit of a smarmy * though.

I’m probably reading way too much in to it, but the Osmand & Engels comments do sort of make me wonder if the ‘issues’ were starting to spread from just being a ‘Rodgers & the board’ thing to ‘Rodgers & the players’ as well. I know it’s become a bit of a meme, but you do wonder if that Honda Civic comment maybe didn’t go down all that well with the squad. He was clearly on the outs with board, if he was ever really ‘in’ to begin with, but if there was genuine discontent fermenting amongst the squad, you could see why that would be the impetus for him to suddenly cut bait.

It dosen’t absolve the board of their failings, which go far beyond a bad transfer window, but if we’re able to keep this momentum going and start turning things around, then it’s going to reflect terribly on him. It’s not the way the world works, I know, but I just can’t abide someone getting paid that sort of money to be that checked out. The squad is in a sorry state, but there’s still enough there to navigate a successful, if ugly, domestic league campaign - you evidently just need to try something different. At least try making lemonade with the lemons.

Remember he was totally blameless and everyone had fallen for a hoax?

Not saying for a second that he was the primary reason for the position that we’re in, but this idea that he deserved no criticism was a joke. There’s been a significant difference in the energy and mentality of the team.

The hoax is completely real. A win against the Huns doesn’t stop that.

It’s the Brendan Brendan Brendan hoax and that’s it at the final stages when folk turn against him. It’s there by design.

I like Brendan and I'm defo team him vs the board, but there's defo 3 sides to the the whole thing.... his side, their side and the truth.
Anyone could see what the issues in the team were and he stubbornly refused to change it and refused to play certain players just to make a point. It's actually pretty telling the difference in the team as a whole and especially certain players since MON and Maloney took over.
It's actually really showing up that he was hampering us and actively making us worse despite having better players vs many opponents.
Probably best for us that he's away, just need to get the next appointment right and also get the board to * now.

No, it’s the end stage of the hoax. You only get there when you lack critical thinking.

The last part is why he always start failing in his 3rd season. Players obviously can't stand the guy.

Spray-tan, teet whitening, and all ridiculous comments.

Any interview from him now, re the football side is gonna make him look a bit daft. No doubt he was shafted by incompetent and power hungry folk above him, who have overstayed their welcome.

But on the football side, he clearly was coming up short and the evidence suggests deliberately to prove a point. A point that when he would leave in May, i was done in by the board, I'm the innocent one in all this. Nonsense.

His leaving out players means he didn’t do or try his best. Nobody else to blame for that. Look at the difference in Cal, Arne, Nygren. Playing in a more cogerent way in positions more natural to them, all stepped up, playing wi bite and smile. A core part of the team looks rejuvenated in the matter of 7 days.

Too long a post to mention everyone but it's clear to see that his mood/ways were holding us back.

Any interview now on the back of the upturn in results and form just make him look stupid. So all he left is to go after the board and Desmond himself, which i can't see him doing.

Enjoy your time off and move on Brodge.

    My thoughts as well.

He’s always been a complete egomaniac who loves the sound of his own voice. Players aren’t daft. They’ll see right through it.

Plus the fact his treatment of some players is disgraceful. Guys like Osmand and Trusty seem to have big personalities and are no doubt well liked by their teammates. Of course some players wouldn’t be happy seeing their mates (who clearly have talent) chucked aside and not given a fair chance.

There’s no doubt he’s a good manager. But he has a very short shelf life and seems utterly incapable of arresting a slide.

3rd season at Liverpool was *. Sacked a few weeks into season 4.

Season 3 with us the first time. Football was awful and was obvious the mood had changed.

Season 4 at Leicester. Went from 8th to being relegated.

Season 3 here again. “Resigns” after a shambolic start to the season.

He’s good at getting an immediate upturn in form and can maintain it for a while…but it’s no coincidence that he’s never been anywhere longer than 3/4 years.

People forget the football in his 2nd season was awful too. (17/18)

I seen a stat we scored less goals that season than the covid year. Bear in mind we had Griffiths, Roberts. Sinclair,Dembele, Eddie, Armstrong, Rogic. We also had the lowest points total for a championship side. That tells you his tactics are a problem

No point in revising history. His trophy haul here was unbelievable and he's delivered some special memories for us fans. There is no doubt tho that his time was up here. There's a shelf life for every manager but it's quite stark how things tail off for him around season 3 wherever he's been. It's almost like self sabotage, starts to fall out with people and lose interest.

Majority of players still reference him in interviews since he left which shows the regard he's still held in.
The last 6 months haven't gone well, true. He did chuck the towel and became petty with the team selection etc
But he did call out the mismanagement and lack of ambition which confirmed what we kinda knew was true and made Dermot write his recent corporate suicide statement.
In time I think we'll all be grateful for that when the most culpable blazers have finally gone.

Overall, he's been an amazing manager for us over 2 spells up to the last 6 months.
Multiple trophies, trebles (including the Lenny one) invincible season, exciting football and lifted so many key players to new levels.
I'll remember him very fondly and have zero bitterness on him leaving twice - both justified.

All the best Brendan and Thank you.

Think the EPL taste he got meant he thought he was a cut above the Celtic role and that it was his way or no way.

Whether it was a Maloney find or an O'Neill punt but yesterday's inclusion of Osmund and his subsequent performance has made Rodgers look a right *. Engels is growing from strength to strength as well.

I mind when he first came back someone posted a video of Griffith's goal in the win over Anderlecht, saying it was a great example of the benefits of Brendan's style of passing football. Something like 40 passes in the build up. What stuck out to me from that was how slow it was. No one was actually moving to progress the ball, just playing simple passes waiting for an opening. No doubt a well firing Rogers team can do well but I think his career at this point actually points to a manager who plays a pretty boring style of football.

I've seen this comment a few times now, but what I rarely see alongside it is Callum called it out too. It wasn't solely Rodgers playing his games. The Captain wasn't happy with the Board either.

His football was rank for the vast majority of this spell, let's be honest. Remember wishing we had never appointed him after his first few months back. Again, that was after a transfer window. Infact, I would hazard a guess that every spell we went through playing utter guff football was after a transfer window when he felt hard done by, even though he's been here before and know our board are hopeless.

He brought us great success and at least eventually left, although a bit late for me.

The board shafted him but he was still earning mega bucks and should have still been putting the effort in for the players and fans instead of spitting the dummy out.
