Good game today but some of his passes were bad but. It's just a part of his game I guess haha.

His defending is getting better and better but his passing lets him down regularly and did again today. Overall, though, another strong performance.

He's quick to get criticism but by and large this season he's been excellent

If it was the 1940s and all he had to do was make tackles and interceptions, and whenever he was on the ball he could just * hoof it as far as he could, we'd probably be talking about an all time great CB.

This modern football malarkey where he has to play out from the back, control the ball, and make a decent pass is where he falls way short of the mark of he's likely not going to get better on that front.

That said the main part of his game as far as being a CB is concerned is genuinely solid. Countless interceptions and challenges that have prevented a goal this season.

He’s PotY so far IMO, only guy that has consistently performed, but that’s more our team not hitting any great heights. He’s had some cracking games and the rest been very steady.

Trusty got man of the match, if it was to a centre back for us Scales was the better on the day, Trusty was great but nearly cost us and that Scales tackle balances out similar performances to Scales being the better.

he had one absolute shocker of a game against them but the rest he’s always been one of the best on the pitch, think two MotM awards in them and it’s similar in Europe. Almost on a crusade about him now, to get the * credit

Defensively excellent. Won everything. No complaints.

A bit slack on the ball at crucial points which on another day may have cost us. But he made up for it.

He had two very slack moments, and he needs to work on that, it’s concentration it’s something he seems to do with a simple pass once or twice a game, but them aside his use of the ball was excellent I thought, fed the ball beyond Rangers midfield up the left wing time and time again, rapidly.

Honestly struggling to think of a better tackle for us than that.

I thought there was no chance of being able to do that. Massive moment in the game.

Outstanding tackle on Gassama and largely defended very well.

Thought he was caught out a bit for the Chermiti sitter, though.

His passing is just hard to explain. He regularly completely under hits really simple passes.

Every long throw in they had he just headered it away no problem.
Again some of the passing lets him down but that's not what he should be there for. Class defender and really vital for the team

I wanna be careful how I pose this question, I mean no real disrespect to GT.

But, with Scales, the weakest area for us over the last few seasons was always the left side of our defence. Combine Scales and GT as two perceived weak links, it became the weakest area overall. Often you'd get lots of teams target us down that side.

Is Scales looking better now that GT isn't here and Sarachhi and Tierney (albeit not fully sharp) are a lot better covering that side of the defence?

And for the sake of fairness, I'd wonder if the opposite could be said, would the deficiency of GT be lessened had we had a better left side option than Scales?

Because Scales has been absolutely solid this season for us.
