Not for me, the Griffith comparison is spot on, albeit a right footed one. There’s also a good portion in him of a young Shaun Maloney, when he first came in as a striker.

Had high hopes for him when he signed but then maybe not when people who knew better never involved him.

A product of Rodger's ego and stubbornness

Quote from Martin post match on Callum

It was great to see Callum Osmand score his first senior goal?

Yeah, yeah. Delighted. Didn't he milk it as well?

He was great, and while it’s undeniably early days, the signs are positive. You can tell he’s got the ability, but it’s coupled with a tenacity that’ll serve him well. Hopefully he can kick on from here and start getting more involved.

While the focus should absolutely be on his performance, it really does just once again highlight how poorly things have been handled as of late. It’s embarrassing, given his pedigree, that he was effectively banished to the B-Team and not being given even the slightest of chances when the squad is on the bones of its * and in desperate need of new ideas - just rotten squad-management and even worse man-management.

Callum Osmand will celebrate his 20th birthday next Saturday, and he marked the end of his teenage years with his first Celtic goal in the 3-1 League Cup semi-final victory over Rangers at Hampden today (Sunday).

The young striker came on in the second half for the man who opened the scoring for the Hoops, Johnny Kenny, and he caused problems for the Rangers defence throughout the rest of the match.

Indeed, if it wasn’t for some great saves from Jack Butland, then Osmand could well have added to his goal.

His goal came three minutes into the second-half of extra-time, sliding in to steer home a Kieran Tierney cross, and he was delighted to get off the mark as he told Celtic TV after the game.

“There’s no words for me to put this into,” he said. “This is what I dreamt of. If I could have written down how everything panned out, it would have been exactly like how today happened. So I’m just ecstatic.

'It was bringing a tear to my eye at the end. It’s the happiest moment of my life, and it’s unbelievable. I can’t thank everyone at the club and the supporters enough.'

“I felt like I had to get that because there were a couple of chances! I thought for the header across goal the keeper’s made an unbelievable save but there were a few chances that I should have put away, but I’m just glad we got it over the line.

“The result’s the most important thing but to get the goal to top it off is just fantastic.

“I’m so excited, all the boys are, and we’re in a very good place now. I feel like we’re all together and this will give us that boost to go and finish the job.”

  8. Dribbling and pace on him, ooft. With game time, he will hone his skills to be even better.

Excellent performance, caused them all sorts of trouble.

Was really unlucky with that header that Butland saved and should have scored when through on goal but he took too many touches. Could have been a hat trick.

He was causing them a lot of trouble with his pace and movement.

Crazy that Rodgers didn’t give him a chance but it’s not really a surprise.

That was an excellent performance from him. Ripped the * out if them. Not sure where the Hooper comparison is coming from, as good as he was Hooper running by and jinking between players wasn’t his thing.

Liked the look of him in preseason, but accepted maybe it was just preseason stuff.

Found it weird he would have willingly give up his Fulham time for our B squad though.

Thankfully he's getting his chance and let's hope he continues as he's started, because there is a player there to work with and develop.

He was clearly unwillingly put into the B team. Turned down a loan move, most likely because he was signed on the promise of first team football and frozen out by the previous manager as a * you to the board.

Seems a likeable guy, goal reminded me of one Hooper would score, be some player if he ends up being half as good.

Provided the sort of energy we’ve been lacking upfront.
Hopefully see more of him. Still young and very raw but clear talent and need that type of energy and attitude going forward.
