I get the feeling that BR was not expecting that level of attack from DD. Wouldn't surprise me if he's been caught off guard big time.

I don't think BR has enough grounds to successfully sue. Pretty sure DD run that statement by his legal team before going to print.

The fact DD accused Rodgers of self preservation, instead of the more libellous self sabotage, tells me that.

But it is all about context, and any court case can be a lottery.

I think gives us an indication that Rodgers definitely isn’t innocent here, Desmond has never done that before. Need to cut cancer out the club and Desmond should be walking out the same door Rodgers did.

Nor our boards after the blatant lies that were in the statement.

I think this will be just like a workplaces scenario management leaves someone comes in their place and unearths a multitude of sins

Rodgers definitely won't be innocent. He's had his clear faults this past 12 months.

But as you say we all know this board well enough by now to know that DD pinning literally everything on him is hilarious.

    Callum McGregor

You were close to Brendan Rodgers. When did you find out, and just your reaction to it?

I found out the same as everyone else. I spoke to the manager 10, 15 minutes after it, and we had a chat, which will stay private for obvious reasons. Everyone was in the same boat. It was a shock at the time.

Then very quickly, I was five minutes away from going to bed, and then you've got to deal with the aftermath of that. I spoke to some of the players, and then we came back in on Tuesday.

It's business as usual because you have a game of football to play the next day, and it's about preparing the team and preparing the players to win that, which was a must-win.

How do you think Brendan's going to be remembered here? How will you remember him here?

A very successful manager over two spells. I think, hopefully, he'll be judged on what he's done for the club. Going back 10 years, he changed the landscape of this club massively.

The professionalism has continued even the first time when he left. I think everybody looks for reasons why we were so successful even after he left the first time. It was because of the values and the work ethic that he instilled when he came in the first time. That's carried us right through a long period of time.

He's come back. He's added more success to that. Unfortunately, in football, everything comes to an end. As a club, we have a lot to thank him for. We wish him well, of course.

I've known him for a number of years now. He was amazing for my career and has done so much for me. On a personal level, I've got so much to thank him for. I'm sure whatever he does next, he'll be a big success

Is it disappointing the manner in which he's had to go?

Of course. Very rarely do you get the fairytale ending. You look at Joe Hart, that's probably the best ending I've ever seen at Celtic. That's once over, however many years I've been here.

That's football. We're all in the industry. We know how it goes. It can be brutal at times, and that's the way it is.

As long as you're here and you're in the building and you're working for a football club, you try and give as much as you can. You try to be as successful as you can for yourself and your club, and then when you move on, that is life.
