Celtic Football Club is pleased today to release the results of its most wide-ranging supporter survey ever conducted.

The survey, which has been undertaken by almost 50,000 supporters worldwide and carried out with the support of the University of Strathclyde Business School, has delivered a range of important information and insights which the Club will use to inform its operations as it moves forward.

Across various areas of Club activity, information has been gathered which has allowed us to gauge fans’ views on really important issues. Through the data acquired, evaluated and validated by the University of Strathclyde and the subsequent reporting provided by Goodform, an industry-leading sports marketing agency unlocking fan insight via data and research, we have been able to illustrate trends on how Celtic supporters use various Club services. We have found likes, dislikes, some common themes and a real diversity of views, reflective of the nature of the Club’s global fanbase.

The survey has identified matters where the Club is performing well in the view of supporters, while also highlighting areas which need change, improvement and development.

The survey also provides vital insights on a wide range of important topics, such as, for example, matchday experience, including safe standing and stadium catering, digital development, supporter engagement, Celtic FC Foundation and Club values.

In terms of matchday experience, the feedback on the atmosphere at Celtic Park is very positive, with 91% of fans rating it as either 'Excellent' or 'Good', which contributes to a positive overall matchday experience for 88% of supporters.

However, a number of fans reported unsatisfactory experiences, with stadium facilities highlighted as a primary issue, including connectivity, catering outlets, and toilets, which will assist the Club as we look to make improvements for supporters. Additionally, the feedback on safe standing provided the Club with important insights to help formulate next steps on this key area.

Similarly, on digital development and supporter engagement, your feedback will directly inform the Club’s development and progress in these important areas, and we look forward to announcing some exciting news on the digital front soon.

Finally, the charitable and inclusive ethos of Celtic supporters is also clear. Engagement with Celtic FC Foundation is fantastic, and we are very grateful for that. The information gathered will be of great value as this aspect of the Club’s DNA, which we are all so proud of, continues to grow and develop.

As the survey data has been processed and we have been working with the University and Goodform teams to present to our fans, we have also been progressing work in a number of areas in line with the feedback received, including:

    • With a significant number of fans surveyed saying they would be interested in moving to use ‘safe-standing’ at matches, the club has already begun work on reviewing feasibility, options available, and establishing a consultation process and working group on this matter, with further news to follow.
    • We have seen a clear desire from supporters for improved fan engagement and the Club has commenced a review and development of our supporter engagement processes.
    • On digital development and fans’ views on improving digital accessibility, the creation of Celtic’s club app is already well underway, with huge benefits set to be delivered following its launch soon. In addition, we will be launching a brand new Celtic TV channel at the start of next season, and work is ongoing to review options for a Club membership scheme.
    • We have noted that stadium catering has been highlighted as an area of improvement for a number of supporters and we have engaged with our providers in order to review the services available and we will be carrying out further work with supporters to seek to achieve improvements in this important area.
    • And with nearly 60% of supporters saying they would use public transport to travel to matches if it was improved, Celtic is seeking to engage in discussions with Glasgow City Council and other stakeholders to try and drive issues of accessibility and transport infrastructure forward for the benefit of all our fans.
Celtic Chief Executive Michael Nicholson said: “Our brief to the University of Strathclyde was to design, deliver, and analyse a robust, objective research project that placed the voices of Celtic supporters at its very heart.

“Almost 50,000 supporters responded to this survey; sharing their views, experiences, and aspirations for our Club. The scale and depth of this response underline the extraordinary level of interest and engagement among Celtic supporters.

“This report seeks to respect and reflect those voices faithfully and independently. Where there are areas of challenge or dissatisfaction, they are reported transparently. Equally, where there are positives to celebrate, they are highlighted.

“The intention in commissioning the survey was to ensure that the Club has clear, actionable evidence to inform its decision making and strategy going forward. That work has already started, and we look forward to taking it forward in partnership with our fans.

“Most importantly, I thank all of the supporters who engaged with the survey. Your involvement in this project will play a key role in informing the future of the Club we all love."

Dr. Phil Considine, Director of Executive Education & Project Lead, University of Strathclyde, said: "As independent researchers we were delighted to help shape and present this comprehensive Supporter Survey Report on behalf of Celtic FC.

“One of the most striking features of the survey is the sheer diversity of opinion expressed, reflecting a supporter base that is global, multi-generational, and diverse in its expectations and experiences.

“I thank the club for commissioning the research, the University team for their meticulous analysis of a massive data set but most of all the respondents who have helped us to shape one of the most detailed supporter engagement reports of any football club."

The fact the club released this today certainly shows the pressure the collective is putting on the club is having an effect. Zero chance IMHO that its a coincidence that the fan survey results are being released now.

They blamed it on an technical issue extracting the data accurately.

Lets see the action they take regarding the feedback now.

And let's hope it isn't just a way to fleece the fans of more cash - want me to sign up to a membership? Show me that the additional money won't be just added to the big pot at the end of the year and gifted to HMRC.

I think it's fairly clear they've delayed releasing it so they can begin addressing things on it prior to release. E.g., the banners going back up, consultation on safe standing already underway, etc.

Out of interest, is there any element to the survey they didn't release results for? Any questions or sections left off?

Because the board never wanted to release them given the critical nature of them they involve and IMHO are only doing so now as a mollifying gesture given the pressure the Celtic collective is putting on due to the board and Desmond's incompetence and mismanagement of the club.
