This is undoubtedly why i think he jumped before he was pushed.

His own words were "im here for 3 years unless i get emptied" ie sacked. Yes managers chat *, but Rodgers' was here exactly to REPAIR his broken reputation with the fanbase.

I also can't help but feel there were also forces against him in the dressing room, at least in terms of application and attitude.

Theres also no getting away from the fact, and even though i dont rate him as a manager and haven't since the last 3 months of his first tenure, that he is the FIRST Celtic manager to actively and publicly oppose Desmond and the board for their bullshit.

Ange skirted with it cleverly. Sarcastically criticizing his own communication skills.

Lennon never said *. Just ran down to a bigger mess in Bolton.

Ronny was more than happy to be bent over.

Strachan knew his job was to downsize

MoN silently watched as the quality of his squad dwindled then resigned.

Rodgers is the first to actually call them out.

No way, in *, was Desmond taking that lying down.

The way it sounds to me, Desmond, through his proxies, floated the idea of contract renewal. A yes wasnt forthcoming.
Desmond spat the dummy. * him the transfer market. Rodgers then spat his dummy, justifiably, and then the place turned into a * tmz wet dream.

I simply dont believe that the club would've okayed such a ridiculous statement, if they didn't believe they could defend it in a court of law.

As ive said numerous times, * em all. They ALL have to go.
To paraphrase Game of Thrones; we dont need new spokes on the same old wheel. We need to break the * wheel.

Think we'll hear from.him after the huns game and during the international break. He'll not want to disrupt the team, plus it'll impact more depending on the result.

I think he would be absolutely delighted if the team got completely pumped through the whole season.

He was defiant in the interview and the news didn't break until Monday.

I imagine there was some meeting with the hierarchy and Rodgers, possibly Kennedy around recent results and each party were laying the blame squarely at the feet of each other so Rodgers handed in his resignation. The pressure was beginning to shift to Rodgers lately so I think he feels compromised in his role.

It's very telling that Kennedy walked away, I had him very much down as a company man so if he sided with Rodgers it says a lot.

Not at all. He has a insanely huge ego and won't want to see anyone lifting the squad at this moment when he is (with right) most likely extremely angry.

The constant point proving through the season kinda shows that quite clearly.

He has so much love for the club that he leaves it in the dirt twice lol

You should be able to speak about ones ego without naming the others. DD has a even bigger ego, and is a even bigger problem.

But lets not kid ourselves that BR has deep love and care about Celtic. That is just ridiculous :56:

A manager that had ambitions to take Celtic forward

A board and small owner who continue to take Celtic back 20 years

Aye let’s not kid ourselves who is the real issue here

Rodgers "unexpectedly" tendering his resignation seems the most plausible way to explain Monday.

Why he did that after what he said on Sunday is the key bit that I want to understand.

Absolutely every single manager that exist in the entire world would have ambitions to take the club they manage to the next step.

BR has been a fantastic manager, but he still left us in the dirty TWO times after being "as motivated as ever". This one is more understandable though but he is quite clearly not the most honourable man.

The best thing he did in all this is making it clear as day that DD is the problem. Which we obviously knew before this saga anyway

I agree with everything you've said other than this point.

The club doesn't okay anything DD does, he okays what the club does. It makes zero sense it should work like this, but he does treat the club as though he owns 100% of it, and I've seen nothing to suggest anyone else gets a say in anything that happens.

I believe he literally just told someone 'put this on the website' and they said 'yes, sir'. I'm not saying that means it's full of lies, but I don't think billionaire Desmond is running his remarks by anyone. He believes he's in the right and that's good enough.

For me its the protests directed at the board that have triggered this and his "honda civic" remark.

Hes been given an a dressing down by those in charge and told part of his remit is to put out the fires in the stand.

And he just not been prepared to do that.

If he had been constantly defending the board and telling the supporters to drop the protests then he could be 20 pts off Hearts and they would have kept in the job as they did with Lennon.

The board correctly identified that he was off at the end of the season and therefore he had no vested interest in towing the club line. Rodgers was not going to protect them, he was going to protect himself first. Therefore he needed to go and become the scapegoat for them because they fear these protests growing and what it means for themselves.

It’s no coincidence another leaves after another shambles of a transfer window

A failure to replace key players

    Aye no wonder managers leave

No chance. I’d bet the difference between Ange and BRs spending wasn’t much over a couple of summers. Although BR was shafted last summer he’s signed plenty and making that comment after getting shafted by Dun * dee is embarrassing.

If you ignore the ridiculous fantasy about Desmond deliberately trying to * Rodgers up in the transfer market, maybe.

Anyone believing self sabotage from the board, I’ve got magic beans to sell you.
