Massive game for him today, they won’t give him a minute he really needs to step up to the plate in this one

For sure our midfield functioned much better then it has for quite a while. Hopefully they can build on that tomorrow.

Probably the best number 10 we’ve got. If only we had a player that could sit as anchor :56:

Lovely finish. Great to see him further up the pitch.

Been excellent. Need him to drive the team on again in the second half. Engels, even though he hasn’t done much himself, has allowed McGregor a wee bit more freedom.

Certainly playing the captain’s role today, this is the Calmac at his best, full of drive and aggression.

Spoke too soon, went into hiding mode for the entire second half.

Last 30 mins of the first half was old him.

Watched him in the second half and he was making no effort to get into space. Just hiding.

Strangely dropped deep into the #6 2nd 45 when doing so well at #8.
Tired? Hiding? Told to? - who knows

Because McInnes is smarter than Rodgers and set up his team differently in the second half and gave McGregor less space. This time it-s not on McGregor. And I said it before, our managers persisting on him in the 6 role are idiots. He is a much better player further forward and has lost the pace that helped him inthe 6 in the past. Time for the elite manager to realise that. But I don't have any hope.

I also think we reverted to type, in the first half when we were in the ascendency one of Engels or Hatate, mainly the former, dropped in and McGregor stepped forward.

We constantly got one of our midfielders goal side of theirs and should have actually got a few goals if not for Hatate literally falling over the ball when he got in those areas and Nygren missing that chance.

Second half the comedy of errors at the back killed us before we got back into the game.

I believe Hearts weakness is their midfield shape means they are 3 v 2. Yeah one of the strikers drop back in but they are still a forward playing there.

I think going narrow against them is the way to play them and play with a box midfield of two deeper players and two 10’s.
