With Nygren and MAB fighting it out for the 10 role. Think that's how we make the most of all their qualities.

Yeah that was my thinking too. You could also switch it up a bit if were flat and have Nygren in the inverted role on the right to give another option, especially when AJ is back. You could then have a situation where flat balls through the middle are being pinged into Nygren, MAB and Iheanacho for a quick bit of play.

MAB could do the same on the left, and we have Hatate that could come in too.

Put Arne next to McGregor to give him more time on the ball to build confidence and show what he can do. It will take the pressure off McGregor too. Arne has the legs to run from deep and join the attack, but can also learn to pivot the attack and sweep while McGregor ventures forward into those channels.

Not really seeing what others are. He played a good pass for the goal but that was the only thing he did right. Ran about like a headless chicken committing fouls and could easily have been sent off for persistently fouling after he'd been booked.
I still hope he comes good but yesterday wasn't evidence of it happening yet.

The fact he does it every appearance tells me that no one on the coaching staff has pulled him up about it.

He had a chance on the halfway line to compete for a header and tried to go in with his back instead. Tells you everything you need to know about him.

Good pass for the goal but everything else was utter garbage. Needless fouls, shat out of a 50/50 and delivery from set pieces was rotten.

I’ve given him every benefit of the doubt but the reality is he’s been here for a year now and we’ve seen enough to judge him. Conclusion: he is never an £11m player.

Luke McCowan has delivered so much more value for a fraction of the cost and he’s not even good enough to start for us.

Our midfield needs badly refreshed and Engels is not the answer. We need at least 2x new midfields brought in during January window.

He's at a stage where he is judged much more harshly than others. You can tell he's playing frustrated which he needs to channel better but he had a positive impact overall yesterday.

Our midfield isn't clicking and McGregor is the only constant. I'd like to see Arne tried at CDM or at least a formation tweak to have him next to McGregor.

Such a low bar for him that a pretty standard pass is being highly praised. Has to be doing way more.

Another bizzare Rodgers stance that most could see a mile off was wrong..

He's the only one with a bit of strength and aggression.. he needs to give him a run..

I don't understand Rodgers, he sanctioned deal, an exciting signing, showed good promise.. then doesn't start him enough.. it doesn't do his argument any good at all when it comes to our transfer business.

Needs to start on Thursday surely.

Hes got a cracking good cross. He should start and allow the right winger to cut in to his space while he overlaps to the right, allowing a cracking whip in cross from open play. Especially while ralston is on because he's not doing much over lapping.

Shame he shaged rodgers wife or something.

I think he's pish to be honest but I want to see him in the deeper role but we all know Cal will never get dropped or moved further up

If Rodgers tweaked the tactics he could have been tried at right midfield in a 4-4-1-1 by now.

Rodgers player a very similar style 1st time he was here in the 2nd half of his 2nd season.

McGregor player left mid in 4231 but in possession Tierney pushed high and McGregor player as a 2nd 10 next to Rogic and Lustig player as 3rd CB so we looked more like a 3421 in possession

Just shows how soft we are.

Doesn’t even use it to our advantage either, constantly gives away needless fouls with pushes in the back etc.

Don’t think we’ve ever found the right position/system for him which is unsurprising given how little Rodgers changes things tactically.

Would like to see Engels back in the starting lineup. For me last season while he wasn't wow I thought he had a solid first season. Personally with Johnston back at right back and with basically no options of real quality on the right I would go with Nygren on the right to get Engels back into the middle. I think Nygren with Johnston outside of him might be our best bet for now on the right anyway regardless of Engels starting or not.

I would like to see Cal Mac play as an offensive midfielder. So far Engels has been dreadful he could try him as a defensive cm but he I think he looks to soft for that role.

It's about time for Rodgers to bench his shiny new toy that is Nygrens and play Engels who was a huge part of our success last season, especially in Europe. It's also frankly embarrassing that so many of our fans have bought into k boyds theory that Engels wasn't worth his transfer fee, his transfer fee was down to the board negligence and I shouldn't have to remind Tims that Engels played most of our games in our CL run, honestly, quoting k. boyd * is going on

I’d be playing him consistently now for the next half a dozen games minimum. He’s taken his medicine for shaky form and not always imposing himself. If he doesn’t get the picture after that then you can start questioning his future but he deserves a run now.
