Finished S C Gwynne's Empire of the Summer Sun. An historical account of the last years of the native Americans on the southern plains of North America. The focus mostly on the Comanches. It certainly had some interesting aspects to it but overall I found if a difficult read. Not because of the harrowing nature of the topic given what happened to the Comanches and other native American groups but more so because I found the narrative to be very disjointed and difficult to follow and lacking depth in terms of the history at times.

Ive been trying to expand my horizons beyond my usual history, classics, and historic fiction stuff...

Benjamin Labatut - When we Cease to Understand the World

Semi fiction and semi historic biography it mixes stories of the most prominent scientific minds with a sort of gothic narrative. Very interesting. A gentle step from my usual history stuff.

Mr Norell and Jonathan Strange by Susanna Clark

Loved it. Its the story of Britain during the french revolutionary wars but in a world where magic is real and two magicians are competing for fame and power. Written in a very Dickensian tone. A moderate step from my usual history stuff!

Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K *

Nearly finished it. A sci fi classic that Ive only gotten round to reading. Im not much of a sci fi movie fan, especially grand world building stuff, so Blade Runner put me off the novel for some time. Really enjoying it though. The sentient robot premise has been done 100 times since first published but I enjoyed it
