He’s miles off it, but this is revisionism.

He’s been a fantastic player and captain for Celtic, not to mention Brown was hardly exceptional in every season at the club.

He was involved in a lot today, especially with trying through balls, but he’s having a poor season. This should probably be his last season as a starter (assuming he’s not carrying an injury).

Not at his best, but needs help. That's what I noticed about the diets mf last night, they were covering each other and full of energy.

Engles comes on and makes a run into the box,mc gregor has the ball and instead of trying to drop it in to Engles he passes the ball to cvv, sums him and the rest of them up,we can all see it yet Rodgers doesnt .

Changed your tune, I've been saying all season he needs dropping while you happy -clapped him, the amount of backwards or sideways passing he does is a waste of a team place, even still you're making up fantasy injuries to excuse him, he needs dropping/resting as does Nygren. "involved a lot today", you might have noticed we lost at a ground we've not lost at in 37 years, yet again failing to threaten let alone score, so we're lucky he was so involved.

No I didn’t. Stop making * up. I took a more realistic view than some of the idiotic waffle posted in this thread about him being done.
I’m not excusing him. Plenty of players have played through injury and have had their form affected. It’s just one possibility of many, even though he has declined as a player, and it makes sense to consider it.
He doesn’t need dropping and today isn’t on him. You said he’s never been a leader in the park which is one of the worst opinions on this thread, absolutely brainless when by all accounts of the people who actually work with him praise his leadership constantly.

What annoys me most about McGregor is how passive a Captain he is. Maybe his style of leadership is quiet words after the game, but for me for far too long there have been moments in every game where someone needs a rocket up the * and he says and does nothing.

The whole team have been playing too passively and slowly for such a long time and whilst Rodgers is too blame for that in the main, as the Captain, surely you can be pushing for better.

Agree with this. It never bothered me till this season as he almost always set the standard football wise. But now that's on the wane I think his character is an issue as captain.

I remember that time CCV scored an own goal in the CL last year, Kasper grouped the players together, Cal included, and gave them a boot up the hole. I mind thinking Cal looked a bit mortified someone else had to do his job.

Love the guy but things are going south for him rapidly.

Not a difficult concept, he still has something to offer now, but as time goes on he will continue to decline. Plus we all know he’ll continue to start for the time being.

Anyone who’s watched any season review video knows he doesn’t do “quiet words after the game”. He isn’t passive at all.

I'm not seeing what he is apparently "offering" this season.

I wanted him to retire at the end of last season. Once a player starts giving up on his international caps, then you know he is winding down.

He could still see out this season with some respect and dignity intact, if he was played in a double pivot 4-2-3-1, or moved forward to No.8.

But try telling stubborn Brendan that.

He had two ok/decent performances prior to today mate. He’s been poor by his usual standards but if anyone claims he’s offered nothing it’s just nonsense revisionism.

I would definitely try something different in the midfield v Stum Graz on Thursday..

Maybe Engels and Bernardo in a holding 2..

    But we know Rodgers won't

Even McGregor and one of those two (preferably Engels for me) in a double pivot would be worth trying imo.

I'd rather leave McGregor out on Thursday so he can play Sun
